well, it looks like the best driver in F1 doesn't get his way all the time, and he has to stay at BAR, at least for the next season. bad news for Williams, who are left without a top driver for next year. if Richards et al are spiteful, they'd let Button sit out the year, since he's likely to bolt after the season anyway, and may not be fully inclined to give his all for the team.

the British GP is off the schedule for next season, for the first time since 1950 when F1 began. it seems Ecclestone couldn't squeeze the money he wanted out of the race organizers. i wonder which third world nation will take its place on the calendar, since F1 seems to be abandoning its traditional European countries and fanbase:

a possible new qualy system in place for next year. i don't mind the current system, but this one doesn't seem too bad. still, i don't know why FIA is so intent on getting rid of the Friday session:

another new F1 team set to start in 2006, based in Dubai:

well Button isn't anything till he wins a GP, and he should stay at BAR , a team which he knows inside out.

More teams teh betetr IMO, just that there maybe should be a cap of expenditure imposed by FIA :p like NBA and NFL etc ...won't work I know

Bad news for Williams? What are you talking about man? :D Williams has the chance to sign up the awesome, the incredible, the respected up and down the whole grid Pizzonia :lol2: Alternatively, they could take Heidfeld (a proven winner as well, whose nationality obviously has nothing to do with BMW). Man, when it comes to driver contracts/decisions, Williams is the Minardi of them, always wrong.

They got a proven winner in Webber (he got a 5th with Minardi on his debut, failed to improve that ever since on a better car), they got influences within the team in Sam Michael pushing hard to get compatriot Webber. They have ex champs in Alan Jones saying more or less that he is the best thing since sliced bread etc. Respected opinions of course, but don't tell me it has nothing to do with the fact that his a compatriot of theirs. Anyway, now that Button's gone, i hope they make a bid to take Fisichella as was rumored lately with JV staying put at Renault and Peter Sauber making a lot of $$$, otherwise that team has no drivers for 2005. Junk boy and MW could be within a thousand of a sec, that doesn't mean they are super fast, perhaps average and close. If a team that has won everything resorts to such quality drivers, i won't be sad for them if they end up being slow.

Also, check out that link concerning Renault. Looks like Schweitzer's stint comes to an end next year and they may quit F1 and follow Peugeot at WRC.

Also an interesting article about Renault's getaways from Ross Brawn. Rather funny if you ask me, because i remember Renault talking tough against BMW and the rest when they unveiled their 111 V10 engine. Back then you had BMW's Theissen saying sth like "we've looked into that solution and we don't believe its the best all-rounder in terms of power, torque, weight distribution, height etc" and they were saying stuff like "in 3 or 4 years, when every manufacturer will be following Renaults' path, then we'll see who's right". Of course they had a bunch of problems, and ended up ditching the whole project altogether going back to a 72 angle V10. :lol2: Is there any chance that Brawn's right in this? Oh well, if we can shorten GP's a bit (say, down to a 1 lap race) my money goes to Renault winning the championship. :D

Williams to take Coulthard? :p

Well, why the heck not? If he's unimpressive (like pizzaman, Webber etc), i say he's in with a chance at Williams. With Briatore (who controlled Fisi and Webber and would only give him one and keep the other for Renault in Trulli's place) Williams had the chance to get a fast, proven racer (Fisichella). Instead, he elected to go with the unknown quality who outqualifies (and occasionally gets unqualified) by pay drivers. See the influences i previously mentioned, they are correct. Now he may well end up with two noobs, so there won't be a good yardstick. A possible line up of Pizzonia and Webber would have 0 poles, 0 fastest laps, 0 wins, 0 podiums (sb correct me if these stats are wrong). With guys like Fisichella or Coulthard or even Button, you could at least judge the other driver (Mark Webber) since they're known quantities in a sense. But FW has been pretty against getting DC anyway.

At the start of the year McLaren's Dennis approached him with a sort of "hey Frank, since we've already signed Montoya for '05 anyway, be a good sport and release him a year earlier. We'll give you Coulthard and money" proposal. Williams didn't want to even hear about it. Funny thing is, as much as David had a crap season, in THE drivers track (Suzuka) he owned his team mate pretty badly once again. Last year as well, he ****ed him up pretty nicely with the team's mule (the 3rd car, which was not set up for him of course) after handing over his good car to Kimi (who crashed his own car before qualifying or sth) and had to let him pass for 2nd and pray that Michael would break down. He didn't. There aren't really plenty of good, proven drivers out there. And its the teams fault for that. Nobody noticed over at Williams that both their driver's contracts expire at the same season? Nobody? Well alright :lol2:
