Could you compare temps to your FX-53. And also, did you buy retail or OEM? I want to see what their new HSF is like.. you would probably rather just keep your Venus 12 installed anyway.

Ever since I installed F4 BIOS for my GA board, my temp reading have been messed up. It reports 48C idle now, which is wrong. I need to flash it back to beta F4k which has the error fixed. When I was running my FX-53 with the beta BIOS my temperatues were 32C idle and around 48C full load. I used external temp probe to confirm correct readings. I'll post temperatures with FX-55 once I install it tomorrow. If different, you should be able to see the margin at least.

I purchase OEM chip as there isn't retail I could find at the moment. So I don't know about stock HSF.

What I'm surprised at is how fast people are able to pick up AMD64 processors after their debuts. You still can't buy a 3.6GHz P4 in Australia and the 3.4EE is practically unavaiable at the $1700+ price range :p

Just installed the CPU, couldn't wait of course. All went well. :)

Running 3-4C hotter than my FX-53, but that's because AS5 hasn't settled in yet.

Yeah I think it became available not so long ago, either just a few weeks ago or late last month. I remember last seeing an ETA around 3-4 weeks ago and hadn't checked since, so I guess I exaggerated a little there.

As I said elsewhere, even if the temps end up being 1-2 degrees higher, that's not so bad seeing this is the fastest 130nm AMD64 we will see.

I bet he breaks 30,000 with it. My FX53 overclocked to 2.50 gets around 29,800.
