View Full Version : NV35, not in 2003?

what if Nvidia, with NV30 coming early next year, has a speed binned version of the NV30 next fall? Basicly, a Ti version of whatever NV30 is called, instead of NV35, an actual refresh. Something like they did with GF3 Ti500.
It seems likely that Nvidia will go the first route, because Nvidia's rate of bringing out new cores and actual refreshes has been slowing down the last few years, which is a fact not an opinion.
A speed binned NV30 next fall would be unimpressive and disappointing.

In MY opinion. Nvidia will release the NV35 around fall of 2003. Which will be based on NV30 design, but it will be clock faster in both GPU and memory. And it will support DX9.1.
I dont see why its dissapointing or unimpressive about that.

Based off of nVidia's track record over the past 3+ years (which includes three "new" cores - two of those being new architectures - and three "refreshes") I just don't see any reason to expect the NV35 much before Christmas next year. I do, however, think it will get here in time for Christmas, and there should be a speed binned "refresh" sometime mid/late summer.

with ATI on the offensive, nvidia might have no other choice but to detach themselves from their past record of operation. of course, this will have more to do with how NV30 performs compared to R9700, and what ATI releases to combat that. whether it is a speed binned R9700, or the R350, will have a major impact on what nvidia will then release. if nvidia can hold off ATI with just a speed binned NV30, they'll probably do it, as the past has shown.
