Is anyone using their tv as a computer monitor? If so, how do you have it set up?

Std TV have max 480 lines of res, you can get away with 800x600 with readable text if its a good quality TV, but the strain on the eyes is immense.

Yes, TV is not good as a monitor. One guy I know uses his HDTV and cordless kb/mouse setup to watch movies off his computer, but aside from that, I can't think of any good reason to not use a monitor.
I would like to see how one of those Samsung DLP projection TV's handle a computer signal.
I occasionally switch my desktop over to the tv and browse the net using my cordless setup... generally I use 640x480 or 720x480, and the text is readable if I enlarge it...
I mostly use the tv to play, um, downloaded movies and stuff, and it looks great... I gamed a littel bit on it last year but found that to be a bit difficult... although I must admit, doom3 was pretty fun with my review unit 6800 @ 640x480, hi quality, 4xAA/16xAF...

People like me can use LCDTV as the monitor if they have either PC VGA and DVI port, mine plugged into DVI port, LCDTV is wonderful. :D

What's the resolution on LCDTV? I thought it was to the tune of some strange 1024x868 or something or other (Of course depending on the screen ratio).
LCDTVs are just too expensive right now for practical use, which is a shame.

Aye, a regular TV is unreadable for just about anytying.
However im going to hook up my AIW 9800 Pro to a HDTV as soon as my parents leave for the weekend :o

You can't read off a regular TV (CRT). However it's decent for gaming. I play some games on my 36" Sony sometimes at 1024x768 4xAA 60Hz (yes that works perfectly fine with my CRT TV) and with my wireless gamepad and it works out pretty well. Lately, I've been attempting to set up 1080i through DVI (my tv has a dvi-hdtv port). I think FarCry and Doom3 would be pretty nice at 1920x1080 interlaced 60Hz. My TV also has Hi-Scan/double lines in a way, so that 60Hz/60fps works more like "progressive" than interlaced. It looks really nice.
