if Ferarri, BMC, Mercedes, and Renault actually split from F1 and form GPWC, we could be witnessing the end of an international racing series. here in NA, IRL split from Champ car series (or CART), and both have suffered, attendence-wise and on tv, with Champ declaring bankruptcy last year and having to be bailed out by several team owners who bought the league on the cheap. both leagues fought for the same fan base and the same sponsorship dollar, and both are relative failures. this could easily happen on a grander scale (unless this is all just a ploy to get more money from Ecclestone by the GPWC members). it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

hmm I do not like the idea of the spilt even though F1 is rather bland at the moment. And thats a good example of what you posted owuld happen if the F1 and manufacturers split, however, if otehr big manufacturers joined in, they probably would have a better chance of keeping it afloat..it would be a prestige issue for them.

I do hope F1 stays as it is and other teams get their heads out of their arses and start delivering a challenge to Ferrari.
