Hello there!
I badly want to overclock my PIII 866 Mhz processor. What is the max overclock speed u recommend so that I can get an improved performance and also not fry my processor? The system heats up very fast and hangs after running for 2-3 minutes when I run it at 950 MHz, while giving a big difference in performance. However, running at 920 MHz, another speed at which I can overclock to , doe'snt give any noticeable performance increase. Pls help me.

Also, pls tell me whether there will be any difference in the 3d mark scores after I overclock my system. Finally , could you also suggest whether my GPU, nVidia Riva TNT2 Vanta can be overclocked safely, and if yes, how?

you pretty much said it yourself, 950 isn't stable. run it at 920 even though its not noticable you are getting an increase in performance. your either limited by your memory, mb, or need better cooling.

Overclocking a "stock" system can be tough. You would really need to invest in some better cooling before you can hit those higher numbers stable, then again why waist the money on cooling equipment when you could just buy new hardware...

Your video card should OC a little but dont expect miracles, get Rivatuner to do the tweaking.

Have you tried upping the cpu voltage? That migh help stability a little bit.

also increase heat ..no point increasing it without some better cooling.
