well, in the review they are not even speaking about the generated noise

IMO this is the only important point after ability to cool ...

"It runs at over 7000RPM and pushes well over 40CFM. The best part is that it does this at a little over 40dB"

Well a 7000 RPM fan isn't going to be quiet, that's for sure.

Second, it looks like it only has one clip on each side to hold onto the socket. To me that's not acceptable. If a CPU cooler is worth its weight it needs to have either 3 clips on each side (a-la Thermalright AX-7) or use screws to mount in the holes in a motherboard (a-la Swiftec).

oh, u right ! ;)

but over 40 dB, we are really crossing the Geek Stuff limit :D

IMO 30db is the limit. That same fan running at 4500rpm will still provide very efficient cooling without the noise.

A lesson I learned all too well when I switched from my OCZ Goliath Delta to a Thermalright AX-7 w/Enermax variable speed fan. It cools my CPU just as well while being a hojillion times quieter.

Yep, i learnt the same way when i got my DragonOrb3 running at 7000rpm, i put up with it for about 2 months. I went the old fashion route by buying a resisitor and wired it into a molex connector, i even wired it through a 3-prong switch to still have the full speed option, guess how often i run it at full speed.... never?

SLK-800, or a Alpha 8045 for quietness
