What is the difference between the Forceware drivers and the Detonator drivers (in layman's terms)? I've got a 6800GT O/C and was just wondering what would be better for me. Domo arigato.

Forceware is the new name for nvidia's display drivers. They dropped the Detonator name @ 53.00 I believe. Only Forceware 6x.xx/7x.xx drivers support your card.

Actually, they dropped the detonator name @ 52.16. 52.16 was the first official forceware driver. But with the geforce 6, you cant go lower than forceware 60 or 70. Just like how I cant go lower on 5950 ultra than 52.16 drivers.

And just for information's sake, the name change came at the same time as the addition of the "shader compiler" of the driver. :p:pahh, that was a good time IMO for nv, that little stretch in Oct/Nov 2k3, when the 5900XT came out to the applause of the value conscious enthusiasts, along with the improvements brought forth with the new forceware drivers... :p:p

right, ForceWare drivers came with the introduction of the shader compiler.

From 5x.xx drivers Nvidia decided to change name.

Maybe will do the same when will reach the 1xx.xx :)
