I received my copy of Pitfall: The Lost Expedition today and found that lo and behold it supports SM 3.0. Check out this snippet from the readme.txt:

"Notes
=====

- To enable "Hi-res water", you must be have DirectX
9.0c or later, Windows 2000/XP, a video card that
supports Shader Model 3.0, and the video card's latest
video drivers."

How about that!? :clap:

I'm an old school Pitfall fan and absolutely love it. They've really managed to take the 2d gameplay and migrate it to 3d while still maintaining the feel of Pitfall. Of course, you need a good dual analog controller to get the best out of it, preferably one that suppports force feedback. I'm using Logitech's new Rumble Pad 2.

I'll post screen shots as soon as I can. Stay tuned!

Well i hate to say it but the sm 3.0 water effects is this game are nothing to get excited about infact there pretty :lame:

Those expecting Farcry type water effect will be sorely disapointed

With sm3.0

sure it looks better with (looks like a dynamic/blended cube map to me)but why it needs sm3.0 is beyond me ive see better water fx with just PS 1.4/2.0

FarCry's water pwns this and it only needs SM1.1.

i think the sm3.0 was used for the reflection off the water, which is a nice effect. But overall that game screams 2001. =)

Quake 3 Arena, which was released in 1999 owns this graphically!

Hmm...well...at least it SUPPORTS SM3.0. Granted, it looks like crap, but more support is never a bad thing I guess :p . You'd think SM3.0 water could at least use pixel shaders, or at the very least bumpmapping, heh. I have no idea what it could possibly use that hardware for...is there even multitexturing in the game?

I have the game, when I played first time and then I found it very addictive complex game, it is Tomb Raider type game without guns. I still playing 1 week on and it will last alot longer than 20 hours to finish Half Life 2. :D
