View Full Version : Halo² Feedback Thread
Looks like it's certainly getting decent reviews. Gamespot does seem to review things a bit screwy, sometimes they're on-par with everyone else and sometimes they rate things way lower than the average (such as Steel Battalion). Still, 9.4 is a very respectable score, although if their main complaint about the game was the single-player when every other site has reported that the game has a very good single-player mode then I must wonder what their reasoning is. At least I only have to wait another 33 hours before I can see for myself how it is :)
Anyway, I've decided to do something different: every 6 hours until the game's release (minus sleep time, I'm still mortal you know ;) ), I'm going to be posting a new link of a movie related to Halo or Halo 2. Most of you Halo fans have probably already seen these, but this should be a nice treat for those of you who haven't.
First up is Evolution of Halo. This video shows the ancient, early version of Halo (pre-2000 footage) with some hilarious commentary by the creators. If you haven't seen it, check it out: you might be surprised at some of the crazy things they had in the game back then! Enjoy :) http://www.edgefiles.com/file.x?id=/sector7-halo.com/www/Halo%20Evolution%20Large.mov

Very nice Edge :D
Same reason I'm really antipacting HL2, too. The story looks to be phoenominal(sp?). I think Halo 2's storyline with be much better then the 1st, too.
Yeah well thats what 99% of the reviewers are saying ;)
'Cept for this dork... jesus :)
Guys, if you're looking for some good Halo 2 screenshots, I think TeamXbox's screens are fairly decent: http://features.teamxbox.com/xbox/949/Halo-2-Media-Blowout/p1
OMG! I just read the greatest thing ever from the IGN review: "If you wanted to play Capture the Flag with more than two teams, you can. In fact, you can play with as many as eight teams in one CTF match. "
Yes, yes, YES! I was JUST thinking as I watched that deathmatch video earlier "hey, you can play deathmatch with more than 2 teams, why don't FPS games let you play other game types like CTF with more than 2 teams?". That's one thing that almost has kinda bugged me about other FPS games: in modes like CTF you're always stuck with two teams, I remember a 4 player CTF map was released for UT but it wasn't done very well and noone played it. But now...3+ team CTF is a standard option! I'm in love :drooling:

The TeamXbox review is posted as well. 9.9!
Two quotes from Gamespy's review, that just make Greg Kasavin look even more ridiculous:
"Now that it's finally here, there's one final question: was it worth the wait? In a word, yes. In two words, hell yeah!"
"In some ways, though, calling Halo 2 a sequel lessens the importance of the game, which will undoubtedly stand as the greatest Xbox game of all time. Like the films "The Godfather 2" and "Aliens", Halo 2 is superior to its predecessor in many ways, impressively building on the universe introduced in the first game. Although most of the talk on game forums is about dual wielding, vehicle jacking, and other additions to the gameplay, nothing is more impressive than the game's story."

GUYS GUYS GUYS!!!
Go to http://www.nilerodgers.com/, where you can hear a sneak peak on every track on the official Halo 2 soundtrack vol. 1! It is simply so awesome music, now I imagine it combined with Halo 2 graphics/sound/gameplay/ect. = a little taste of gods heaven... :angel3:
Ok, I was very close to creating a new thread just based on this news, because this is big. But i'll keep it in here: HALO 2 IS RANKED AS THE BEST GAME EVER AT GAMERANKINGS!!!
:nanahump: :jumping: :D :bounce:  ! ! !
Im in love :luv:
But lets see as more reviews come in, but assuming that nobody screwed their review up as much as Gamespot, its at least gonna keep its position as the top-5 best ranked games ever!!1!!!1oneone!!
PS: As you can see, new reviews just came online, check gamerankings for that..

Wow, really nice :D
Aww, you should've gotten a picture of Halo 2 at the #1 spot, it dropped down to #2 because some place called "Eurogamer" only reviewed the single-player portion of the game and gave it a 90% :retard: . Jeez, Gamerankings.com has to be more selective in their reviews, at least require sites to play the WHOLE game. But on the other hand, it's actually kinda encouraging that even the single-player alone would be worthy of a 9 out of 10 :)
Holy Crap!....I don't own an X-Box and could care less about Halo2...But double Holy Crap!...I went to a little outlet Electonics Boutique in my town today, to sell back a game, and the place was totally jammed with people trying to get last minute pre-orders in...
I've been going to that store a long time and have never seen anything like that...the clerk said there was a line down the block before they opened (ack) what's up with this game???
what's up with this game???
*ahem* ;) http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/562116.asp
Edit: huh, Halo 2 is back at the #1 spot since the singleplayer-only Eurogamer review is no longer counted...not bad.
Oh, looks like it's that time again. Next video is an old favorite that's popular among the Halo community that many of you have seen before, but it's worth mentioning again just in case you've forgoten about it (or haven't seen the "sequel" video to it). This one is titled Warthog Jump, and it's a small..."physics experiment" done with Halo 1. Basically, take a warthog, a few marines carrying grenades, and a slightly deranged mind, put them togeather, and what do you get? A damn fun video! Lets watch, shall we:
And you Bungie fans should recognise a familiar face in the "Warthog Revisited" video.
Well, I won't be awake in 2 hours, so here's a random video for your enjoyment. This one is the "final update" video where they take us on a guided tour of Bungie studios. Not much game footage, but definatly entertaining in it's own right (if you have a slightly twisted sense of humor, that is ;) ): http://www.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_halo2_update.mov

i don't like EB all that much. everytime i go into an EB store, they don't have what i'm looking for. they'll have some nice stuff in yes, but not really what i'm looking for. My gf went out and got me a Halo2 limited edition pre-order about a week ago for my b-day. She said the place where she got the order from will have the game in today (it's 3am right now :p)

Gamespot gave it the best review and most honest... I honestly think it deserves less but eh, never been a big Halo fan. Roommate is in heaven right now.
He works at gamestop and brought it home a day early, gotta love the french benefits!
it's "fringe benefits"
The french benefits are extra vacation time and good wine.
and see if your roomie can get Half Life 2 early...then you can talk about heaven

They haven't recieved there order yet... trust me, thats the first thing I asked for. Might get MGS3 acouple days early though! :D

Jesus, I just called my local EB where I pre-ordered. Apparently there are 500 pre-orders for my local location! With even a quarter of those showing up for the midnight sale I'll be in line till 1:00 am at least, I figure. Guess I'm picking it up tomorrow :D
I'm so pissed off about all these awesome games coming out in a row. Next week is HL2, Metroid, and the week after is WoW!! HOW THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT US GAMERS TO PAY FOR ALL THIS, HUH?

I agree, this is the craziest game release schedual I've EVER seen. I mean seriously, THESE are just some of the games that are being released in one WEEK of eachother:
(last 3 substituted prequel's score since real scores aren't out yet ;) ). I mean jeez, for the last year we've had what, maybe 2 or 3 major games that have gotten decent scores? And now we have SIX being released less than 7 days apart? Yikes, it this some kind of ecconomic stimulus plan or something? Oh, and I talked to a guy at Gamestop a few days ago, he said they were getting over 120 new products on 9/17 alone :retard: . Unbelievable, even if only half of those are games you could probably sit down and not finish them for 6 months.
Holy crap. Go read this (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/563/563920p1.html) article on IGN concerning Halo 2's stat tracking system. Not only does Bungie.net track just about every stat imaginable, it also gives you a breakdown of every match you have played, from 15 different angles, with icons showing where people were killed, what they were killed with and in some gametypes, the trajectory of the weapon that killed them. It also has paths for flagcarriers/bomb carriers and other important stats. The best part, IMO?
The fact that you can view anyone's game maps - you can study the best players and get better, study your own to improve yourself, or study your opponent for an upcoming clan match.
This game's multiplayer is going to have some serious freaking longevity.
What in the sam hell? Jesus, how detailed can you get. Sounds like something you'd only find in military training simulators, and even then I'm not sure if it would go so in-depth! The server space alone needed to store all that data must be astronomical. That's just...wow...
Oh, it seems I'm getting a little behind on my videos...sorry. Here's an old classic that many of you should know: Red vs. Blue. A fanmade comedy made from in-game Halo footage, this popular series is already on it's third season, and not only has it made an official DVD release but Microsoft themselves had them custom-make some clips for the kiosk demo discs! You know you're well off when the people who publish the game you're basing your stuff off of come to you with a job! Here's the links to the first 6 episodes, enjoy!
