I'll be #20 in line at my EB. That should get me out of there at a reasonable hour, enough time to drive to my parents' place, grab a couple hours of shuteye then be on the way to Vegas! :D

I have to get use to useing the controller for a shooter again but so for I am loving it. Graphics are not majorly upgraded but still good and some of the cut scenes are awesome in quality. I MUST buy the hook up to use it on my monitor to see what this thing looks like in Hi-Def. Awesome so for. :)

Jesus, I just called my local EB where I pre-ordered. Apparently there are 500 pre-orders for my local location! With even a quarter of those showing up for the midnight sale I'll be in line till 1:00 am at least, I figure. Guess I'm picking it up tomorrow :D

I'm so pissed off about all these awesome games coming out in a row. Next week is HL2, Metroid, and the week after is WoW!! HOW THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT US GAMERS TO PAY FOR ALL THIS, HUH?

I took holiday time (payed) and also took a $500 loan from the bank... That should cover it i think...

Bah, I can never seem to make good on my promises. Well, since I probably won't be back to this thread until I pick up Halo 2 (and probably not for a good deal afterwords as well, if it's even half as good as I hear :D), I'll just post the final video now.

This video is simply called "Coagulation", and is an actual 16-player CTF match. This needs no introduction, I was hooked the second the tank shot the Warthog the first time. The players don't seem particularly good, but even then it's very entertaining to watch. Again, do not download this video unless you want some aspects of the multiplayer spoiled for you. So anyway, enjoy, and see you all on Live ;)

Try it every once in a while, the server has been getting hammered for days now. I just tried it a few minutes ago and the download did start, was going at 50+k/s in fact (which is rather suprising...considering my connection is only supposed to be 256k).

:bleh: OK, so I lied, I did manage to get back on this thread before I picked up Halo 2. 1 more hour baby! Well, plus 30 extra minutes driving time. Now...what to do in the meantime...*looks at porn*

Edit: oh, uh, random Halo theatrical movie trailer, enjoy! http://www.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_halo2_theatrical.mov

It has grown on me even more. I think I may end this thing tomorrow the way i have been playing it. I got to hook it up to a even better T.V and sound system and.... :drooling: :drooling:. I am so damn use to the keyboard and mouse but I am getting use to the controller. Really impressive what the XBox can do. I really hope this comes to the PC to show it's full potential. What I would give to see this thing in 1600x1200. :drooling:

This is no fun hurry up and get your copies. :)

I waited in line for about 45 minutes with a few buddies that were buying it. I didn't buy it (no Xbox)...just went along for the ride. I think it's funny there were people in line that have to get up at 5am for work, got their copy at 12:30 and were going to go home and play it for at least 2 hours.

Wow, this game ****ings rules. I played the first two missions and so far it's totally badass. I got an X-Box Live subscription finally for this game, and I couldn't believe how smooth the game was. Absolutely no lag whatsoever in an 8-player Slayer match. Now THAT was fun! Now to go waste away at work...

I'll be in an Nvnews clan if you guys are doing one. My gamertag is Ninjaman26.

I'd like to add that the midnight sale line that I had to wait in was one of the most miserable experiences in my life. I truly wanted to viciously slaughter every single person in the line. These weren't geeky video game nerds! There were teeny-bopper fags, spoiled rich kids, GIRLS (!!!) who WEREN'T EVEN GOING THERE TO BUY THE GAME and walked around calling everyone "freaks" even though they themselves froze their asses off in the line for two hours, and of course, "drunken frat boys" as Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3) puts it. One ****stain actually pulled up his riced-out Honda (real inventive, jackass) and started blasting Ludacris and DMX. I ****ing hate Ludacris and DMX. To top it off, I was probably about 6-7 years older than everyone in my immediate area. Luckily, I was right in the front of the line so I got the hell out of there ASAP.

VIDEO GAMES ARE FOR NERDS, PEOPLE. YOU HIPSTER, SCENESTER ****S SHOULD STICK TO CLOVE CIGARETTES, COFFEE SHOPS, AND NOPI PARTS AND STAY THE **** AWAY FROM THE REST OF US.

Well, picked it up at 2:30AM when I finally got through the line. Wow, there were a lot of people there, the line was suprisingly long (especially considering there was another Gamestop less than half a mile away, and they had a midnight opening too!). I've played the single-player for about 4 hours, and I must say, it is very good. It's hard getting used to aiming with a controller again (I used to be really good at it, but I haven't used it in so long I'm a bit rusty), but I'm really loving the amazing things they added to the game. For some reason I'm partial to the vehicle damage, it just feels great shooting off parts of a Ghost or knocking the Warthog around with a rocket launcher (yes they're supposed to be on my team, but I just had to try it :D ). The dual-wielding, energy sword, and vehicle boarding are also quite cool, and the campaign certainly has some interesting parts in it. Oh, and slight spoiler for those who haven't played it, but was anyone else suprised that you spend such little time on Earth? I thought it would be a majority of the game, but you only spend 2 of the game's 15 levels there!

But did anyone else notice the slight graphic defects? For example the LOD system seems a little screwy, models seem to pop into low detail a bit close to the camera. Also there seems to be a few problems with textures not being applied to models right away, like as soon as the camera centers on something the textures are being drawn in over half a second. Actually, I think that's because of the way their data streaming system works: in order to avoid load times, it dynamically loads objects and textures when it needs them. But it seems that in order to avoid pauses, it loads the objects first and then streams the textures in as it puts them on the screen. Technologically it's actually kinda impressive, even if it does have a few bugs. Oh, and I'm glad to see that the real-time shadowing shown in the earlier videos HASN'T been removed like I originally thought. In many of the cutscenes they do still have dynamic shadows and lighting, and even a few places in-game, they just seem less prevalent and less noticable compared to the bump/normal mapping. Overall despite the shortcomings, I'm very impressed with the graphics, they're a huge leap above Halo 1 (though you really have to have played both within a short period to really appreciate just how big of a difference there is).

So anyway, yeah, worth the $55 and 2.5 hour wait in line :) . I can't wait to try multiplayer, if it's as good as the single-player then this may end up being my favorite game of the year.

Oh, and if you want to make an Nvnews clan I'd be willing to join. My gamertag is Solisar, oh and anyone can feel free to add me to your friends lists :) .

Thanks, jerk, I was on the second level when I stopped playing last night ;)

That sure is weird, considering how big a deal they made about it taking place on Earth. Don't tell me where you are now, I don't want to know. But I'm having a blast either way, this is an awesome game!

This game kicks all kinds of ass. I'm going to have to start all over again - I spent the first level being disoriented until I got used to the updated controls. Apparently, I've played too much of the original for my own good. :)

I was a little surprised that we got whisked off of Earth so quickly - whatever the Covies were looking for, they didn't find it. I am more than impressed with the quality of the writing. The first game played like an action video game, but this plays like a freaking movie, and it doesn't do too much like MGS2 did. And while MGS2 had a great story to go with it, I am very surprised and impressed with the story thus far.

I am completely in love with the plasma sword.

I still need to get a handle on dual wielding - which combos are better, etc. Sad to say, but I'm hoping that Bungie can improve their LOD system and make a patch or something available over Live, stores and magazines. It's very jarring to have the detail jump in a half second after the scene starts.

Ah well, screw it. I need food, and I need snacking materials, and I need to play some more Halo 2. :D

Hence the reason I bolded the spoiler warning :p

Oh, and it's really cool when after the second level, MC removes his helmet and you find out he's infected by the flood, and you spend the rest of the game as the Sarge as he tries to find a cure for the Master Chief by going to the alien homeworld!!!11one! Just kidding, please don't hurt me :D

And I agree with Vash, the presentation is quite good, there are a suprising number of cutscenes but they paint out a very well-crafted story. The begining certainly sets up a pretty interesting set of events, I'm very interested in seeing how it plays out. Although I hear it ends on a major cliffhanger...we'll have to see how bad it really is.

Heh, ironic that he gave me crap for posting that when I bolded a spoiler warning before I said anything, and then he quotes my spoiler :D . Anyway though, I'm not even sure if you're done with Earth for good after the first part, I haven't gotten very far and it wouldn't be suprising if the game goes back to taking place on Earth again. The way the game is set up at the start, quite literally anything can happen.

Damn you all!!

Feel some pity with us poor European gamers, who cannot play Halo 2 before tomorrow night! :( =>

Oh and BTW, Halo 2's average gamerankings score is up at 98% again, placing it as the 2.nd best rated game ever on any platform!

This game IS generally getting higher rates than HL2 so far, that doesn't mean anything about which game is better, because they're being rated on different basis, but Halo 2's scores are definently very cool so far :D

I got it at 1:55 last nite FINALY! it was a long line and then I went home played a little of CTF and then went to bed. I did find out you cannot run around with dual weapons in multiplayer, in single player you can but multiplayer you have to pick your spots on when to use it. You really need the frags.

I did play the first part of the game but only a few minutes worth. In my short time I would say it is a refined Halo. The human weapons have been down graded and the alien weapons have been upgraded. I am not sure I like that. There still is no leaning (which sucks) but it is still very fun.

This evening I am going to co-op the game with my buddy in Tucson...so I have to wait till he gets on-line to play the campaign mode.

Heh, well you might as well get it now, I don't think it's dropping in price anytime soon. 3 years later, Halo 1 has dropped a whopping $20. Hmm, maybe Halo 2 will go UP in value, heh.

Oh, and Gaco, just think of it as a trade. You get Halo 2 a few days late, we get Bush :p
