View Full Version : Trying to choose between two nForce3 MB

I'm trying to choose between these two:

ASUS "K8N" NVIDIA nForce3 [ Link (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-131-512&depa=0) ]
CHAINTECH "VNF3-250" nForce3 250 [ Link (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-152-043&depa=0) ]

This is the memory & processor I will be using:

Memory - Corsair Value Select 512MBx2 [ Link (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-440&depa=0) ]
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ [ Link (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-486&depa=0) ]

I'm leaning towards the Asus and would just like to know what you guys think.

I would look into a socket 939 setup ratehr thana socket 754. more future proof that way

ASUS got Nforce 250GB which is better then Chaitech with regular NF 250.

Definetely K8NDefinately K8NDefinately K8NJust curious as to why you guys all agree the ASUS is the way to go? Experience with the brands? Name recognition? The specs look very similar, so why spend the extra $15? The Chaintech has gotten some good press (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2063&p=4), so I'm just wondering why the unanimous vote for the ASUS.ASUS got Nforce 250GB which is better then Chaitech with regular NF 250.Actually, it doesn't. Newegg must have a misprint. If you look in the customer reviews there, one says to order the Deluxe version if you want the Gb LAN. Also, ASUS' own site (http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=K8N&langs=01) states it's the basic NF3 250 chipset, vs. the K8N-E Deluxe's NF3 250Gb (http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=K8N-E%20Deluxe&langs=01) chipset.
