My fellow Americans (Jeez, that was cheesy): The elections are over. We need to put these issues behind us, and move on. It does not matter how small of a percentage point the President won by, but the fact is, he won. We need not to become a tool of an agenda set by someone that do not have our best interest in mind.
We, as Americans (and the free world for this matter), have a common enemy that will destroy us (the free world), and our common interest. That enemy is Al Qaeda. That's what we need to focus on.
We really need to put a stop at all of this silly, immature bickering, that don't lead nowhere but to more hatred to one person or another.

I agree 100% but I don't think it's as bad as the media makes it out to be...
I know many Kerry Supporters and Bush Supporters that get along just dandy :) Though, I think as you get to the coast, the opinions become much more outspoken...

I guess I never really got that point accross. I think the media is a big part of the dividing of America. No matter who you watch, they are going to say that it's the other side that's at fault. I say we are at fault, because we allow them to manipulate us.

Yes, then I would agree. Though many of us now realize what a joke the media is, there are still too many people that put too much blind faith in it.

The only people I am worried about aren't democrats...nor can they really be called liberals.
I am talking about the michael moore types. They believe that they are the right ones and nobody elses oppinion matters at all, and they are willing to force their oppinion down your throat if they have to.
These are the types that want to move to another country, or use the court system to bypass the democratic process entirely when something doesn't go their way. They go around and tell everybody how much America sucks and how dumb Americans are, then get outraged when people call them unpatriotic, which described them perfectly.

yes, the michael moore types are scary, but i think most people (liberal or conservative) know that they're pyscho and usually distance themselves from them...it's obvious that the celebrity involvement in this election did nothing for their cause, now maybe they'll shut the hell up the next election

When you have teens looking up to a celeb like him, you will see how you can see how dangerous it can be. Moore is part of the media that don't care who they hurt, as long as they get rich quick from the very process they preach that they hate. That, to me is worst than a hypercrite.

Case in point:

Even more interesting is that it got a high moderation score, indicating that many other people go along with the idea that if your oppinion doesn't match theirs, then it needs "fixing."
These guys aren't liberals at all, they follow another form of fascism.

I guess we're lucky that the young voters didn't turn out this year then...:)

I did not start the thread for debate, my friend. All I'm saying is that we have bigger fish to fry instead of the shoulda/coulda/woulda's.

How come?
Lack of responsibility for their own problems. Too many countries have jumped on the "Our problem's are the USA's fault" bandwagon.
I am also sick and tired of said countries GLADLY accepting billions of dollars of our foreign aid, then saying we are eBil and trying to take over the world!

LOL, I forgot about him... wonder what ever happened to him? I'd imagine he went to other boards instantly to bad mouth everyone here, given his attitude.

I posted a while back the regardless of who won the elections... it was likely that the lack of the pressures (on bush coz it was his 2nd term and an opportunity to define his legacy... and on kerry because the election process would have been over and he would not have the pressure of appealing broadly immediately but rather had an ability to forge ahead with his plans... whatever they might have been)
the bickering is generally from the fanboi's so to speak... undoubtedly I am not happy my candidate lost... but i never expected him to win since he wasn't even on a ballot in a single state :D
I do think the enemy is of a larger scope than al-qaeda... zarqawi's group has become more potent in recent times than AQ and the overall terror networks that exist go beyond the AQ and OBL factor, though undoubtedly they are extremely influential in the recruiting process...
I think though, with arafat's health in decline... this is a golden opportunity for the US, israel and the palestinians who have the common sense to make the correct decisions to secure their future, to work together and forge a partnership which will eliminate much of the ill-will in the region regarding israel... thereby eliminating one of the more powerful tools of hatred used to recruit suicide bombers and the like...
---
regarding the differences... it is teh differences that make us great... it is the differences that move us forward and have been a part of our soceity for the longest time...
but you are right, instead of pouting and sitting on their hands... those who want to make a difference should work hard with those who don't to get their voices heard and... if not all.. at least attempt to get SOME changes put through using hte processes we have in legislature...
bush will need to take this country through a healing period and reconcile with some members from across the fence while looking to re-focus his attempts in iraq free from the scrutiny of the political pundits... if he chooses the right people as he did in the latter part of this year...

he went to EB... I haven't been there in forever so i don't know if he actually posts there or not...

I will say this just one last time, and then go onto matters where some good might come forth from the time expended.
The size of the victory/in conjuction with how divided the voters were on the issues does matter, insofar as public opinion and how sharply divided it might be. It would not have mattered what candidate won, or which party...but to be a leader for all people, all people, need a voice in how we move forward, and all people who are American deserve representation here. The challenge, regardless of which candidate won, would be how they could reach out to the other almost half the nation in this.
True union and that which makes this country great would not be found in people sacrificing their own ideas, their own thoughts, their own beliefs, or values everytime someone wins to come in conformity with the state or those who head it up for a time. True union comes through holding to principle, even some of the core principals upon which this nation was founded and built. These comprising what in anthropological terms can be refered to as the "culture core" if you will.
True union wouldn't be shown in all people who disagree with current policy sacrificing their thoughts and their ideas be it wrt the Iraqi war, the ecconomy, or what not. And if Kerry had won, true union would not have been found with many of the Christian right sacrificing their ideals wrt traditional family values, the war on terror, or whatever ideas would be considered important to them.
True union would be that which was displayed on 9/11, when people came together to help the victims of that trajedy. That which is important, which would unite us as Americans would go much deeper then views on given policy, and would allow us to discuss our differeng ideas on said policies while each contributing our own voice to this country we call home; without tearing us apart, simply because we might not agree on certain policies.
People's thoughts, beliefs, and what not also are an integral part of who they are as a human being. True union in a country that values freedom and liberty would allow people to retain their individuality, and their own individual thoughts, ideas, beliefs, etc; while still keeping us bound together in a common union based upon that which this nation was itself found upon.

If Kerry won, he wouldn't give a DAMN about those who voted for Bush. He'd push his completely slammed to the left wall liberal agenda as hard as he could.

I saw psyhosy was there too, sounding more crazy and tinfoil-hattish than ever.
everyone is entitled to their opinion... I am of the opinion that america made the wrong choice... with both candidates... in 2004... and of the ultimate choice...
I would have considered kerry to be a wrong choice as well, though less so than bush... he leans left... bush leans right... they both use PR to proclaim they are anywhere from the middle to the left/right of the political spectrum to appeal to their base...
I am very happy with my vote... I trust you are also happy with your vote steeda...
as the south park episode pre-election showed... it was a choice (as always) between a douche-bag and a turd-sandwich...
