hello

after installing nvidia dvd decoder wmp 9 and 10 will not play dvd's.

wmp starts by indicating that it is loading media when "play dvd" is selected, but nothing appears on screen and no sound plays either. the decoder appears in the system tray. Egg timer appears over wmp and it says "playing title", but still nothing on screen.

If i uninstall the decoder then wmp works fine.

hardware acceleration is greyed out in wmp settings but checked in the decoder settings.

an i missing something in wmp or decoder settings, or graphics settings that will allow wmp to play dvd's with the nvidia decoder installed?

when the decoder is installed nero showtime and win dvd both play dvd's no problems.

asus k8v deluxe. a64 3000+, 512 megs pc3200, leadtek 6800gt, xpsp2, 66.77's whql. lite-on 16*dvd=/- rw

also had the 66.72's installed, same problem.

any thoughts?

I, also have this problem.
Interesting, I had Nero Showtime installed as well, perhaps that was it?
Well, it's annoying, I know that much.
My set up:
MSI 865PE Neo2, 2.8Ghz 533FSB P4, 6800 GT, Sony DVD+/- RW.
I don't think this is a hardware problem, though.
Perhaps a list of what software you have installed?

i stopped using nvdvd and wmp with the decoder. i now use windvd and it works great. no crashes or anything. sounds like some other peice of M$ software doesnt want to play nice.

Isn't this being discussed elsewhere?

Search the forums, I am sure it is/was.

I can't find a thread talking about this problem, just a general thread about the 6800 Video Processor.
