Head over to warp2search (http://www.warp2search.net/article.php?sid=8429&mode=thread&order=0) to read information on the latest version of NVIDIA's software DVD player. There's also a link to download the 14-day trial. Post your thoughts here.

Tried it...not bad. But if we do pay for it.....and let's say we format the computer and forget to back up a downloaded version, how will we be able to download and use it without having to pay for it again??? This is a stupid method....

evga was offering a free copy to evga card owners on a cd with the only cost of shipping and handling. i'd imagine nvidia also sells a copy on cd. if they don't, its good for nvidia and bad for us because it prevents pirated copies.

Don't forget that a lot of us have CD burners so as soon as you download the software you can immediately back it up onto a disc. It would be unfortunate to lose your copy and have to pay for it again. But if you don't have the smarts to backup, backup, backup then maybe it's not so unfortunate. ;)

ok, well just tried the 2.0 trial with star wars attack of the clones. before that i had 1.71 full version and it worked properly. turns out 2.0 doesn't work on my setup, it gives a picture in picture screen on the top left, and the main video doesn't play properly only the top left picture in picture screen. uninstalled, reinstalled 1.71 and it still works.
oh well..hopefully evga will release a compatible update for the full version, or nvidia will. sucks i bought nvdvd and i can't upgrade it.

the other thread gave him a possible solution....dunno if it actually WAS a solution, he never replied afaik
Ive been using the 2.2 trial version, im even more impressed, and this is comming from a fanATIc aswell!!
CPU utilisation is even less now , quality is just as good with default settings and the more advanced options, very nice results with all my DVDs. hmm, maybe im too easily impressed, but i like it alot :)
Fixed the problems i was having with the 1.71 version.

okay i don't know what did it, but i got the full version nvdvd 2.2 and all my problems went away. its awesome, better quality over 1.71 with the nvadjuster, and way more features. i love it. and the fileplayback is great and simple.
however i get the macrovision failed error when using nvdvd. i don't use tv-out. i'm guessing its a driver problem. so i'm using nvdvd through wmp9. works great and i get the combination of the features.
Hi guys i've installed this and keep getting this message everytime i try to play a dvd.
Unable to find the nvidia decoder. This applicaction will only run with nvidia decoders
any ideas how to solve thanks.

Sounds like there is some weird problem with your installation or you have a macrovision problem.
You might try filing a bug report at the NVDVD support website.

I haven't tried the last nvdvd 2.2 offering yet, I wasn't too impressed w/ the former vers vs powerdvd. Do any of you guys recommend it over PowerDVD XP?

i've used the latest nvdvd, powerdvd, and windvd platinum.
i'd have to say the best of them all is windvd platinum. its able to play all files just like the others, but the options availible and made availble gives it an advantage over nvdvd. i'd must say though, nvdvd is the most simple and easy to use and it does provide a good contrast/brightness tuner. windvd platinum now had dolby virtual speaker, support for dolby pro logic ii, practically everything you can imagine. since i have 3 computers with dvd players, some connected to home theatre with klipsch quintet speakers, and some connected to a simple 2 speaker setup when i don't want to wake up the neighbors. windvd is definately the best.
