I wanna capture some matches from my upcoming lan-party with fraps.

the problem is, that when i try to star recording the framerate drops very ugly.....

for example battlefield 1942:

100fps
recording: 17 fps

i record with half-size and 15-20 fps and no sound...

cs source: 130fps
with recording: 38fps

here are my specs:

XP 3200+
1024 DDR
Geforce 6800 Ultra
2x 160 gb samsung 7200rpm no raid

i think these are good specs but a framerate of 17 in battlefield is not playable....
dont know what is the bottleneck.

i have a 17" tft and i play games always with 1280x1024.
so half the size fraps records with 640x512...

is there any option to reduce the size even more in fraps???

would be awesome if any of you guys could help me out....

Saddly your CPU is hurting you alot, i dout you will get a playable framerate while recording with it. I also have fraps write the movie its recording to another HD that doesnt have the game/windows installed, this will remove some load off the HD that the game is on.
