Wow i havnet herd of this?

Dose this mean the hardware is the same, just the drivers enable the new EAX support?

Creative just got alot more lame, and thats pritty bad.

The hardware is not the same, so no, you are not hacking your cards into an Audigy2.

Its true, a big thing your missing is the dac with the Audigy 2. It is alot better than the one on the A1. But i have used the A2 drivers for a while with my A1, it still identifies as an A1 and plays like the A1 would play. Having tried both drivers (latest ones from creative) I havent found any real difference as both seem to up the sound quality a little. So its not really a 'mod a1 into an a2' but more of an Use A2 drivers on your A1.

Well I think the software is just updated for the A2, thats the +, gaming for me has been the same. No real performance drops when using the Audigy, thats all I can really praise the card for. Much better than my Revolution for gaming.

If you want to update just the drivers, download the webupdate and extract the exe find ctzapxx run that and point it to the new driver, it will update accordingly, driver only leavig everything else out. Thats how i did it, i have the files around on my pc if anyone needs them.

This mod is great. I do notice a sound improvement, could just be the newer drivers of course but besides that the audigy2 software is much more feature packed then any of the old audigy stuff and everything works perfectly with audigy1 even the speaker calibration etc.

Ive found that the latest audigy2 drivers also use a good deal less CPU in games for yet another bonus.

So all in all its definately worth it to me anyhow.
