View Full Version : New FW For HL2?

Do you believe that Nvidia will release a new Forceware driver for HL2 next week? Similar to what ATI did with Catalyst 4.12beta?

What do you think 66.93 is for?

11-13-04, 03:46 PM
66.93 is a damn buggy driver.

Stuttering in Far Cry 1.3 (gun fire/explosions) / Men of Valor 1.2 (happens occasionally

Texture Corruption in NFSU2 (road textures)

Video Overlay bug...

Shall I go on? I wouldn't be surprised if it has issues with HL2 as well.

I wonder how that thing got WHQL'ed. Performance is quite ok.

Dont forget the BSOD in Flatout...

It's apparent you don't know what the requirements for WHQL are.

○ Definitely yes!
○ I hope so.
סּ No, why should they, 66.93 works great!

You forget. CS:S uses the same engine and is designed by the makers of HL2. By optimizing it, they've optimized for HL2.

The 93's are buggy as hell on my rig.
I'm back to the 81 WHQL's.
They are the best so far for me.
I even get a 20mhz higher overclock with the 81's than the 93s.

I hope they release a new driver, 66.93 is a POS imo, at least fix the bugs in that.

I vote No.

But perhaps someone will leak a new driver for us :)

11-14-04, 02:42 AM
I doubt it seeing how long took for some official drivers to come out, you gotta be joking.

11-14-04, 10:48 AM
heh, i'm going with no.

11-14-04, 11:16 AM
I really hope so. My system doesn't like all of Forceware 66.xx

Until better, 61.77 is it for me, although I realize those won't get
me the best HL2 game performance.

11-14-04, 12:32 PM
I voted no. It took them what? 4 months to get the 93's out? I dont see how after making us wait 4 months, they would throw out another driver 2 weeks later. I never bothered trying the 93's...all the complaints made me stick with these 70.41's. Great on my rig.

It's apparent you don't know what the requirements for WHQL are.

And it is apparent to me that you did not catch my sarcasm that my statement involved. I was referring to internal quality tests and not the WHQL procedure itself. As it stands I may know more about the Microsoft Display Compatibility Test Kit than you know...

I'm going with No. Two official releases that quick together? Yeah, right. Of course, I love the 66.93 set, but I hope something comes out for those who don't.

guys 4.12 seems to rock with HL2, hope Nvidia has some new weapon ready soon!
