LiteOn JLMS XJ-HD166S refuses to read the Sims 2 DVD edition

Alright, so I spent too long trying to fix this issue already. I want to go to bed. For some dumb freakin' reason my DVD-Drive (LiteOn JLMS XJ-HD166S) refuses to install the Sims 2 DVD edition? What gives? I've even updated the firmware. Does anybody know how I can fix this?

I've even tried copying the files from the disk to my desktop. I get these error messages:

Error Copying File or Folder:...Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

Error Copying File or Folder: Cannot copy 'soandso': Cannot read from the source file or disk.

E:\ is not a valid Win32 application

Well, i gues you already checked the firmware and maybe drivers..


You could also try just returning it to the store for another copy, in the rare case the DVD is actually flawed... Maybe if you push hard enough you can get a CD ver instad..


Finally, nag EA support and see what they say.. (that probably would be painful though)


This problem happens once in a blue moon to a few people for all sorts of games.. thanks to some wierd things they do to the CD and DVD for copyprotection, and some drives not liking it.
