Why do they say that when everyone else sez otherwise?

They also consider the GeForce 5800 as an 8 x 1 part.

The entire NV3x line is based on a quad-pipeline which draw a 2x2 pixel tile. The number of processing units units inside the quad pipeline is different from card to card, but none of the NV3x GPUs is able to draw 8 pixel at once.

As opposed to the Radeon 9700 and 9800 which are an 8 pipeline drawing what? A line of 8 pixels? Then a 5900 would draw at most 4 pixels, and would be equivalent to a 4x1 drawing a line of 4 pixels?

The NV3x gpus had quite a radical design and the conventional "pipeline x TMUs" definition cannot be applied to them. All of them (from the lowly FX5200 up to the FX5950) are able to pull a maximum of 4 pixels per clock. The NV30/35 have also the ability to apply two textures per pixel in a pass (thus being similar to a 4x2 design) and have twice the shader ALUs of their maistream counterparts

Guess what. The box my 5900 came in say "Up to 8 pixels per clock rendering engine". This seem to be a lie. Can I sue?

The 4600 is 4x2 though, that is correct.

I thing 5900 is 4x2 , 8x0 &
6800 GT/ultra are 16x1 , 32x0

It's hard to explain what 8x0 32x0 means

Because they're idiots. Most likely they just copy pasted from one of their vga charts where they also got this wrong.

TRUE !!!!!... :ORDER:

NV 3x truely flawed in almost all benchmarx. Then wats the point for arguin wheather its 8x1, or 4x2 or freakin YxZ.
Let it burn.. teh era is over. GET OVER IT!!! ther r a million forums /threads out ther wher people hav argued over this.. wasted thier times. Plz dont start it again!

The crossbar architecture of the Nv3x wasn't that bad by itself. I think I read that the 6600gt might also be a 4x2 pipelined configuration but with vastly superior PS performance.

The NV3x was an excellent PS 1.1-1.3 card. A shame its design is more suited to a DirectX8 card than a DirectX9.

as far as ive read "the nv3x architecture is Far oo complicated to understand"
accordin to some sites or reviews, i had read, for teh hi-end cards, its pipes is 4x2 and 8x1 both depending upon some calculations/situations ..as to wat wuld b better for having more FPS, the GPU decides while processin.. cant recollect teh exact thingy.
but there was too much HYPE abt. this bein bad.
To conclude, ITS 50% times 8x1 and 50% times 4x2.
SO one cant really determine wat it is. Ony nv officials can.

The Nv3x IS a 4x2 pipeline configuration.

Yep it NEVER outputs 8 pixel at once. Maximum 4 (or one 2x2 quad per clock cycle). It has the ability to douple pump Z/stencil only

is a great article and explains very well. I now understand that the nv35 has an added ALU from the nv30 and that explains alot.

As for Rohit, This is a "legacy" forum. I'm glad you concluded this thread by yourself, now feel free to go on the other GFX cards forum or series 6 cards.

As we can see from 3dcenter, the 5900 series fares much better with the added ALU. Anyone have an idea what the Microops graph and Instruction graph of the GF4Ti would be?

I'd say the same.........i'd even say that NV3x is 32x1 if i got enough money from NVIDIA...

ok... anyone know of an article similar to 3D center.de explaining the 3-4 Ti series?

Thanks! (currently reading) If anyone finds anything else on the verge of technical, fork it over!
