I saw that link myself. Likewise, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse, but does anybody know if there will be any 256mb versions (agp) release? I don't want to jump on the 128mb 6600gt bandwagon if 256 is coming along.

I suppose I shouldn't complain too much. Either one will be a drastic upgrade from my GeForce 3 Ti500.

Sadly, the GT will be only 128MB.

Do you have a link quoting that? What would stop vendors from sticking an extra 128 on there?

Down to the real dirt...I'm currently running a GF3 64mb and am looking to upgrade. With that in mind what would my real gains be between:

1) 6600GT

2) what is this 6700?

3) How much of a different, and why, would a 6800 line card make over a 6600GT?

Thing is I look at the 66GT and says "That looks like a good card, but I would imagine that extra 128mb of ram would make a bunch of difference." At which point I think about the 6800 line, but think that is a ridiculious amount to spend on a video card.
Also, am I incorrect in stating that the 6600GT would make more of a difference between it and my GF3 than the 68 would over the 66? I don't think so but please let me know if I'm incorrect.

A problem I always with video card reviews is that they always focus on comparing the current gen and the previous, but they never look back farther than that. Not everybody upgrades every 6 or 12 months. :|

Superman, a 6600GT would blow your GF3 into another time dimension  That is how big a difference it would be. It is a much better card than even my 5950 from everything I have read (and my 5950 was huge upgrade from my GF3).

As for the 6700, its like a 6800 for the new pcie mobo's.

A 6800 GT or Ultra would be fairly big performance difference from 6600GT, as they have twice the pipelines, memory amount, and memory bandwidth. Of course this mainly comes into play at resolutions of 1600 x 1200. Below that resolution the 6600GT should do pretty well. The 6800 non-ultra and 6600GT would have similar performance, with the 6800 being slightly faster.

You are correct in saying the performance difference between the GF3 and 6600GT is MUCH bigger than the performance difference between the 6600GT and 6800NU :)

Depending on your budget, either the 6600GT or 6800 NU would be an excellent upgrade to your GF3 :)

6800 nu will be the better overclocker since you will gain more performance per clock cycle. And it is readily availible. But if you must only spend 200 U.S. bucks, then you will have to just wait till the 6600 Gt AGP 8x becomes more availible or buy the Inno3d one now. The choice is yours.

I 2nd this. The 6600GT is great but if you can afford a 6800nu get it. Before nVidia slips in the NV41 core. They are only $280 at newegg.

from those benchies it almost looks like the 6600GT has more fill rate than the 6800LE, it beats it in most benches.

Looks like another GT card will be a good bang for your buck :headbang:

Impressive. I would have never imagined that the 6600GT would do as well as this. Kudos Nvidia.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Couple of things:

My monitor is HD and limited to 1280x768, so that's a factor.

Also, what is the deal about the NV41? Are they locking out a feature, or making the chip take a performance hit somehow?

nice find. damn fast regular gamer card. seems to run hand in hand with the 6800le and x800se.

anyone know a place where you can find the 6800le in the us for it's msrp of 199.99? (pricewatch doesn't help) newegg has the 6800le but it is still around 260 which is just 20 dollars cheaper than the regular 6800.

XFX uses 1200mhz ram on the pcie 6600gt, compared to 1000mhz that everyone else uses.
If they use the same memory on the agp version this will be a hot seller.

sheik124 - when you recieve your agp xfx 6600gt, can you verify that the memory runs at 1200mhz?

Unless you want to do SLi then the 6600 will be a better bet than the 6600 GT as the core is the same, you just need to get one with faster memory.
