wow 4.12 seems to be great!
anyway, i'm just back from an half-life 2 trip at home of my uncle :P
he has an xp 2800+ 1GB ram and a 9800pro(128MB)
i don't know how many fps he get but beliee it or not (we have played fro the start until the point where a guard hit me till lose senses and i find a girl waiting for mei) we played all the time with 1280*1024 AA6x and AF16x
it has been fluid always
i don't know if later there will be points where it wil be much lower, anyway till that point 9800pro was really working great!
he uses the 4.11 and anwyay we have got a problem with audio, seems the 5.1 do not want to work on his audigy1 ...
GREAT GAME!
considering that x800pro actually has 4 pipes less, the gt is being hindered here since it actually has more juice but is being held back by the cpu.

Does anyone else notice that these cards are closer in performance
than what ati is saying?
Also it seems driver heaven's benches have ati leading way more
than tommti does.
I wonder if it's because tommti used the newest beta's?

why driver heaven is always the first to show ting when they turn be good for ATI cards? eheh
How can the 6800 score exactly same on #4
No AA/AF - 24 FPS
4xAA/16xAF - 24 FPS
???

its cos is probably cpu limited
you want to see more result without the bottleneck go here http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=Njky besides it a realiable site not like driverheaven

Actually the HardOCP demos are very badly CPU limited, at least for the X800 XTPE. You can see it from the graphs; XTPE scores basically the same scores for all AA/AF settings. The 6800U and 6800GT drop with increasing AA, and X800 Pro drops also, but interestingly not as much.
Anyway, the HardOCP bench doesn't tell anything useful, except that all the top notch cards can play the game easily at 1600x1200 4xAA 4xAF. We would need something like 2048x1536 4xAA 4xAF to hurt these cards in these timedemos, lol. :)

and that is without a doubt a good thing
As for calling one video card a "winner" over the other, it just does not seem feasible and would likely be irresponsible to do so. ATI’s X800 series has not thrashed NVIDIA’s 6800 series silicon as many expected. Half Life 2 simply plays great on video cards from both NVIDIA and ATI. So let’s make this clear. The ATI Radeon X800 series of video cards will deliver a stellar Half Life 2 gaming experience. Also… The NVIDIA GeForce 6800 and 6600 series of video cards will deliver a stellar Half Life 2 gaming experience. There are simply no losers to be found if you have recently upgraded your video card. You have likely all made good gaming investments.

What more can be said.......:)
CPU limitation? XP2200+?
Ah, yes! I see. Makes perfect sense! :)

can somebody test the game with AA8x AF16x ?
and if possible also with 16X AA and AF.
i really believe the game is playable on a 6800U O.C.
