"L'aviation militaire américaine cherche à mettre au point un avion capable d'atteindre tout point du globe en moins de deux heures, tout en transportant six tonnes de bombes ou de missiles de croisière."I was hoping to see a more interesting use for the technology behind the X-43a. Although I must admit that sending a 6ton nuke from 20.000KM away in <2hr is quite an achievement.

This is an obvious attempt to try and quote French and upset half the board members ! :D

What politics is this ?

What's it got to do with 6 ton nukes ?

Regards

Andy

It is a deliberate attempt at getting attention. :)

I've been following the tests of the X43 (loosely) and I was really optimistic and happy about its speed records. I was hoping they would use the technology behind the X43 to send Geforce-6 series products faster to remote ereas of the globe. ahem :drooling:

I actually had not thought at all about what use such costly speed had, but I really like Nasa, and things techno. (I'm fairly sure pegasus + X43 costs >>>>)

When I read that line on Canada's national news service (I don't know how to call Radio-Canada, I forget the english canadian name (edit: got it, it's CBC, http://www.cbc.ca/ , Canadian Broadcasting Corporation)) about how it was to send bombs faster farther my jaw dropped. I just hadn't thought of that.

I know research is most often funded by military interest, but that one missed my radar. (I still don't see a military application for the rovers on Mars (j/k), speaking of which, they're still running those cool little rovers!)

Radio Canada is clearly retarded. This project has been about faster/easier/cheaper space travel since it's conception. Besides that, ICBM's that can hit the other side of the planet in 45 min have been around for over 40 years, with SSBM's that can hit anywhere with a shoreline in 15 min. Why would we spend billions creating something inferior?
