OK, but please don't call them Quadro Drivers, they are only Quadro CERTIFIED, but support GeForce cards as listed below by DEFAULT.

Now where are some new 7x.xx's ????

From the inf:

DriverVer = 10/13/2004, 6.7.2.0

67.02:

DriverVer = 11/15/2004, 6.7.0.2

67.20 were compiled in early October, probably doesn't have the improvements and bugfixes that are in 67.02, strange as it may seems.

i dont mind lots of driver releases.. but the thing is that drivers like the 70.41 and now these 67.20 are OLDER than the ones i have (67.02). the number schemes are all jacked up sometimes..

i heard nvidia has 2 driver teams?

Pav

Yes, nVidia software engineers work on several driver "trees" at the same time so its hard often to tell which really is the latest driver...You have to look at both the dates and versions of drivers when it comes to nVidia.

If 70.50 leaked 2moro, it could be dated before 70.41 even though its version is higher... this is why you have to try many drivers to find the best one for your pc or the game you're currently playing, I still rate 70.41 as best for me with the FarCry 1.3 patch and HDR enabled, even though they are older in date then say 67.02.....so I use them and when I finish that game and jump to another, I might prefer 67.xx set! Its weird this driver world....hehe

Oh and on another topic, does any dev lurking here thinks we ought to create a petition online for a new driver set to be uploaded to NVD!!!! Come on nVidia, get us a nice new pre-release or beta driver set to play with, I'll prefer 75.xx like, but a new 71.xx will do too :P

Thanks I will give these a try. The HL2 drivers (67.02) have a vsync bug. And since I own an FX I don't need the new LOD bios setting.

Rewt I thought you had said earlier that you figured out there was really no vdync bug in the 67.02s.

11-17-04, 04:55 PM
i did. then it happened again, grrrrr. :mad:

I figured out why it happens. because both the control panel and the application needs to have the same setting. the bug occurs if i force vsync in the control panel without turning vsync on in-game. the settings must match. it worked ok on application controlled, but id rather force it on in the control panel. that way i don't have to worry about changing it in the app. going to install these 67.20 in a few...

Oh ok I see what you are saying. I am still on the 61.77s because I am too lazy to update them hehe. Also I haven't noticed any bugs in the 61.77 drivers. Would I get much of a speed boost in any games updating to any of the newer drivers (especially 67.02) do you think?

rewt
11-17-04, 05:03 PM
I like the new drivers because they give me much better shader performance. FX cards were never too great in that area, but the 65+ series drivers seem to help a lot. It has to do with the new PS 2.0a. I'm not sure if it would help out a GeForce 6 too much. They have plenty of shader power to begin with ;)

no problem :) all the benches were run at 1280 x 1024 x32 res

CS:S VST 8 x AF, 4 x AA, Details = high, Water = Reflect world

Doom3 8 x AF No AA

Driver Panel settings were Default in all tests( no optimizations enabled except the 67.02's where Negative LOD bias was set to 'clamp')

Far Cry: (using Benchmarking Utility 1.4) 1 x AF, No AA, Details = Maximum

hmm..that's about it

ps, the same setting were used for each test for each driver, the results are an average of 3 runs/benchmark(not including the 1st run for Doom & Far Cry)

All i gotta do now is figure out how to get the HL2 Time Demo's working, not having much luck atm :(

hmm no one cares about 60.xx drivers anymore. Bring on the 70.xxs.

Absolute garbage, for two reasons:

1. 67.02 was released 'for' HL2. NVIDIA only had 2 days with HL2 before release so it's a rushed set. Now its out they'll have time to refine and release improved versions.

2. 70.xx was aimed specifically for design applications, NOT games.

So expect a 69.xx release, then later some game-relevant 70.xx's. Just because the number is higher doesn't mean they are better. Read up on the subject before you open your mouth with pointless comments.

Yes, I'm in a bad mood, so apologies if I've offended you.
