Yes, I'm looking for a bracket for my PNY Ge-Force 6800 Ultra.
I have an Arctic Cool heatsink that I installed and cut half the old bracket off. Only now, the bracket sucks. I want a brand new one. Everything works perferct other then having a crappy bracket cut in half.
I'm looking for one just like in the picture and the only companies I know that carry them so far are Asus and Gainward. Any other suggestions?
I must get a bracket soon......... I must!

I'm thinking you'll need to send back to manufacturer for repair. Won't putting on a new bracket involve soldering?

Yeah, you can't just take it off and replace it without damaging the connections. You'd need to send it back to the manufacturer.

you mean you need a new bracket? Like the part that goes over the DVI connectors? or you need new connectors? I had a ultra with the double bracket and when I got my NV5 silencer I just removed the bracked, took my dremel tool to it to hack off half of it, and replaced it. How on earth would you mess it up? I don't think you can just buy the bracket part. And if it's the connections you messed up...well, good luck with that.

EDIT: And this should be moved to the Geforce 6 series section as it's in the wrong spot

Hmmm. Well, if the bracket comes off but connectors stay put then he is ok and can just replace the bracket. I thought they would have to come off together.

Maybe he can just email/call manufacturer to get new bracket then. I havent seen any for sale at retailers. Maybe one from an older video card would work if openings matched up?

I'd fix it no matter what because 6800 Ultra's are kindof expensive to replace

Yeah, you can't just take it off and replace it without damaging the connections. You'd need to send it back to the manufacturer.

You just unscrew the retaining nuts on each of the connectors and remove the plate. Its not "connected" to anything.

I'm looking just the bracket.
I need to find a reseller or even an importer on this item.
This item could be an import only item from Japan, China, Taiwan.
Let's put our thinking caps on!!!! Any suggestions?

Why does your bracket suck? Did you like butcher it or something? I chopped mine in half and you can barely tell it's been chopped. And I just used my dremel tool. Did you hacksaw it?

Digital_Maximus

I used metal cutters and cut it in half. It looks like sh&*!
I would just like to buy a new one somewhere out there.
Does anyone have an extra bracket that would fit onto my PNY
Ge-force 6800 Ultra? Plan B.) Call Asus or Gainward and see if they sell the bracket for the Ge-Force 6800 Ultra as a stand alone item. Only time will tell.
Donations are welcome e-mail: firetap88@yahoo.com Thank you! :)

How often do you stare at the back of your computer? It's not worth the trouble to get a new bracket IMO if it still works fine. Why you would hack the 2nd slot half of the bracket off is beyond me anyways... not like you can use the PCI slot with the beast of a cooling solution on the card.

Odds are greatly against you in being able to get a bracket by itself from anyone... they aren't distributed for resale.

EDIT: Suppose you could use that slot for a bracket that houses extra USB/FW/etc connections...

I've been talking to Arctic Cool and Bit$#*&$ them out for not including
a small bracket to replace the huge bracket that comes stock with all the
Ge-Force 6800 Ultra Graphic cards. It pi$$es me off to see that they never
included a smaller bracket with their glorified Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5.
They have contacted some of their resources overseas to see if
they can import one small bracket to me. I don't care if it's large just as
long as I fits on my 6800U.

I know you're new but you should read the whole thread before posting something. (newb)

The reason he hacked it off is so that his NV5 silencer can exhaust. I had to do the same thing to mine. Except that I used my dremel tool rather than metal cutters so mine actually looks fine. Not that I look at it anyways.

I do agree with you though maximus that they should include a single slot back bracket to replace the one on ultras. Or they could include a double back bracket with the holes for the exhaust in it. But I still don't see why it matters what it looks like.

Oi, I did read the whole thread, but I didn't realize the NV5 Silencers used the second slot as an exhaust... :bash: only just got a my GT a couple days ago and haven't yet looked at the NV5 Silencer, tho it sounds like everyone is really happy with it so I will probably end up getting one.

I still don't think it matters that it looks bad tho... I don't spend too much time looking at the back/inside of my computer [cept when I'm changing it's case b/c Lian Li > Chieftec]

EDIT: In my research of the NV5 cooler, I ran across this in the 3DXtreme review...
"I have had one sitting on my computer desk for a week or so now as I am unable to fit it to my 6800GT. The reason for this is that the "Gainward 2400 GeForce 6800GT Golden Sample" already takes up the AGP & first PCI slots and the card has two fixings. The problem is that the exhaust that is supposed to expel the air out of the back of the case cannot do so because there is a metal bracket in the way. I emailed Arctic Cooling last week and received a reply today. They informed me that they will send me another bracket to replace the existing one."
Perhaps you can get a new bracket in the same fasion, sending Arctic Cooling an email asking for one...

It's as if Arctic Cool catered it's NV Silencer 5 to Nvidia Ge-Force 6800 GT owner's instead of 6800 Ultra owners. Man, I'm going to get one somewhere some how. It's such a small item but yet very important to me anyway.
I hope arctic cool delivers to me. After all I got like two e-mails from them
telling yes, we will ship one out to you very soon.......... Yeah, I don't see a damn thing in the U.S. Mail that's funny! "Arctic Cool's engineering dept. :bash: < Me"

I understand how Digital_Maximus feels. He is probably a perfectionist when it comes to computers (like YOU guys) and dosent want a hacked up part messing up his otherwise perfect machine :)

I'm sure one of those companies or Artic Cooling will send you one. Post back how it goes. I hope you get everything just the way you like it :)

Yes..........I want perfection all the way! :)
Here's my custom built computer I put togeather myself.

I actually think they are catering to the GT owners because the stock cooler that comes with GT's is far worse than the one us Ultra owners get. Since theirs is only a single slot cooling design, the NV5 makes a huge difference on temps often lowering them 10+ degrees. On an ultra though, the temps don't drop much. Mine only dropped 2 degrees. But I'm happy with that as the main reason I got my NV5 is for the noise difference.

I don't do any video editing. I just want the best for the long run.
I don't see myself doing any other major upgrades untill Windows XP X64-Bit Professional is released next year.

You know, the amount of air the the VGA Silencer "exhausts" is so minimal, I wonder just how much difference it would make if Ultra owners fitted it to their cards and left the normal double backplate in place.

The air would stay inside your system case of course, but I really can't see it making any difference at all. If you put your hand anywhere near the VGA Silencer when its running, you will see that most of the air actually comes out of the other end anyway!

My NV5 actually puts out a fair amount of air. I had to rearrange my HD's so that there wasn't a dead spot under the card but once I did that, it puts out a fair amount. Not having it exhaust would be in my opinion quite stupid. With it removing heat from my case, my CPU temps have dropped 5 degrees. And also make sure you don't have negative pressure in your case, that could be why virtually no air is coming out. Too many exhaust fans is a bad thing.
