Bah! The name sucks, but I think I am gonna buy it. If it comes out this year, if it is true that it is not until February then I'll stick with 9700 Pro. Sucks to nVIDIA if it is Feb. release.

Damn...looks legit...I saw it...went back about 5min later and the page was completely changed...

Either they are getting very creative, or someone screwed up...

Either way, looks like we're stuck with an aweful product name....hey, who cares so long as the technology is there right?

:D

If we have to wait till Feb. for it, I'll stick to 9700 Pro and wait for R350.

360$....

I'm afraid, afraid because this price is MAYBE a indication that the performance will be lower than a R9700....

I say MAYBE...

no i doubt it, even at $360 because by february the r9700 will have come down in price and nvidia just wants to remain competitive.

DrAkO

Yeah that's possible...

But in february ATI will return with R350 or maybe R400, so...

And check this rumour...

http://www.vr-zone.com/#2750

Maybe 2 versions, first with core set to 400 Mhz and memory 800 Mhz and another the core is set to 500 Mhz and memory to 1000 Mhz...

and check this

http://www.vr-zone.com/Home/news169/news169.htm#2719

" Sources revealed that NV30 will be known as GeForce 5 with continuation of the current Titanium lines. The availability of NV30 cards is expected to be early next year. However, NVIDIA is expected to move on quickly to the next generation NV35 to counter R350."

DrAKo, its not Geforce 5, its GeforceFX, I know you probably think I'm an idiot, but ask Pelly if you don't beleive me. I saw it and he saw it directly at the nvidia website, 5 min later it was taken off and replaced by another page that looks totally different.

he was just quoting vr-zone, obviously they got that one wrong. they probably would release two versions but..400mhz core and 500mhz core..doesn't that seem kinda far apart.

Bah 2 versions to synchronize the core clock and memory clock...no ?

It's a question!

theres no way r350 will be competitive. they cant make a whole new architecture to combat the processing capabilities of the nv30. if it comes out in february which if it does, will only be a speed bumped version.

i still think ati cant compete with nvidia.
and all the people who are complaining about the "Effective Bandwidth" statements nvidia are using...

Remember the orginal RADEON was the FIRST to use that PR CRAP!!!!

remember they used to say oh but u can really get about 10 - 12gigs memory using the faggy HyperZ

only thing i can kinda agree with is that i don't think the r350 will be coming out in february, but who knows

You're wrong....I can also give a clue to something else about the card: 64...that's all I'll say. ;)

LoLol!

This 64 will be revealed at Comdex ? The signification?

Wow, 64, I can't beleive it! its the 64 bit colour that will be introduced with NV30. R300 can do it but not as well. That will be introduced later. UT2k3 is the only game out that can run 64 bit colour. Yeah, we know. Hehe. That was stated months ago man.;) :D

Thanks to warp2search we have a screenshot. :D

The thing about NV30's internal 64bit colour precision is that it's said to be twice as fast as 128bit colour so you get speed at the same time as higher quality. That's is a huge feature over the R300 where the only reason to run the card in 64bit internal precision(as opposed to 96bit) is saved memory and bandwidth.

Well, I didn't reveal all in my statement and actually there's a bit more to it than that (in fact there's a lot more to it). Yeah, I'll just say it, GeforceFX can run in 64-bit color....but you might be surprised to hear...well, let's just say A=32.

thcdru2k
11-17-02, 02:08 PM
any one want to elaborate on the A=32 :D

The 9700 does not support a 64-bit color depth.

What the *beep* do they want to do with 32 BIT ALPHA?!

That's insane! You'd leave 11 bits for red, 11 bits for green and 10 bits for blue. But WHY would you need 32 bit alpha?

I'll think about it a little and see if I figure anything out...

What about ANSIO=32? That would be pretty amazing! How many taps would that be?

Uttar

Aniso 32 would be great :) But even if it's supported, performance would probably be way too low :(
