I don't think his life is in danger, but man that really really sucks.
This has to be so rough on him. :(

I've been following his changelogs for quite awhile and I wouldn't be surprised if his life was in danger. He is updating stuff very slowly, understandably, but when he gets better I'm sure slackware will be worked on heavily again.
Still my favorite distro.
Well, even if Pat no longer maintains Slackware it will still survive because there are a lot of other people involved in the development and packeging process. Unfortunatelly, this is not the case with Dropline Gnome. For those of you who do not know what Dropline Gnome is, it is the project that aims at updating Slackware to most of the latest Gnome and Gnome related pkgs ( and whithout it Slackware is really really outdated in the GUI department).
All that said Dropline Gnome is now dead (hopefully someone will decide to maintain it again). Too bad because Slackware with Dropline was a very nice system and second on my choice of distros (right behind Gentoo in general and way above it in ease to install ...).
It could happen to Slack; something simular happen to PPC linux and it eventually just stopped being maintained. The maintainer was in a car accident I believe. Hopefully, Slack will live on and Pat gets over this hurdle.

Pat is getting better and we might see him at work soon according to linuxpackages.net forums.

As many may have seen Pat has placed another update in the changelog. He updated his message and also added a package or two. This is great and maybe the vultures will stop hanging around now. Read Entire Post
