I'm not taking SLI in account. It's too expensive for me...

X850XT-PE will not come in AGP version, which is the biggest mistake ATI is going to make. If NVIDIA offers new refresh, AGP version as well, they will take a cake :)

when nvidia launched the 6800 in the videos they said a PCI-Express version with 512 MBs of memory would be coming out too. Maybe that's the sleeper?

nVidia is raising all the clocks on ultras made from now on i beleive its 430/1300 now.

To keep up with ATi buffing up their mhz and releasing it as a "new model"

cuz everyone knows of course Moar megahurtz = teh new technology :lame:

:edit: theyre already talking about a new x900 coming out that will have like 560 core 600 memory with 16 pipelines and up to 512mb.

512mb of 1200mhz memory sounds pretty good :)

ATI never said it was new technology. This is only a refresh part so what did you expect? Im sure nVidia will come up with something to counter but there is no info as of yet.

The X850 also uses the .11 manufacturing process which will up the yields and overclock ability :) .

so when nvidia does the nv40 refresh it wont be called 6800 anymore?

Maybe 6850 :lol2:

But, I hope they are going to support AGP... :retard:

the x850 will use .13, the x800XL and x800 uses .11, NV will come out with the nv41 gpu

My left nut. The X700 uses .11 and even at stock the thing a bloody furnace. Nothing is guaranteed in the tech world. The prescott was "theoretically" supposed to eat less watts than the Northwood.

Dustbuster for sure. :D "lol"
ATI says 550.00. I bet it sells for 650+ retail.

no, .11 micron will only increase yields and not the overclocking ability since low-k does NOT work with the 0.11 process. Most probably the X850 will run hotter than the X800 even at the same speeds.

i wonder if they will start bringing out video cards like Intel does.
a few mhz at a time...

oh wait

Well, we already so the XFX 6800 Ultra PCI-e is going to be at 440/1130..maybe thats what the final one will be.

Also ATi made a mistake of not having there x700 one on PCIe, the 6600GT would be selling out like pancakes for the lowerend since it also comes in AGP format, alot of my freinds who cant afford the 6800GT is going for the 6600GT AGP.

I mean think about it..if you can afford a PCI-e mobo...the chances are its gonna have a expensive cpu chip running it...with some expensive branded ram...and you want to stick a 6600GT or a x700xt in it O.o...riiiight.

So true, i have no idea why cards like the 6200 and the 6600 are even bieng designed for PCI-E and why the hell is the 6600 non GT pci-e but doesnt even have a SLI slot on it. I mean wtf

The new cards coming out with 512mb memory sound like the way to go for anyone who hasnt upgraded yet.

Imagine SLi gpus with a total of 1024mb low ns ram ... godly

Heh ya, intel was going up 33mhz for new chips for a loooooooong time. Seems like ati is doing the same thing, except its only 20mhz.

I like this part
ATI will claim the X850 will have much better availability than the disastrously not available X800 XT PE AGP card. Let's hope that it is right and bear in mind that the cards are PCIe only.

Of course it'll be easier to find if hardly anyone is buying them on the retail channel. (IE very small percentage of people own PCIE atm)

C'Mon, this is really not funny: The R480 is clocked 20MHz higher? They call this a refresh? That's not enough if ya asked me...And I guess the NV48 can become much faster when clocked at 450/1300 (what I hope the NV48 is going to be clocked at).

I work for a large HP reseller and the new models have been released, they are all pci express, so when we get an order to beef the machine up from on-board video we have to use a PCI express card.

I guess they are really cranking the stock brand stuff out now and making it standard.

Its not just 20MHz increment, Ati also claims X850Xt will perform 20% more than 6800Ultra in 3dmark 05, and also 55% better than the Ultra in FarCry, and UT2k5/2k4 etc.

And for the NV's answer to X850, is i guess nv41 Thats 6700..donno spex as yet.

And also does any1 remember, nv had stated, during launch of 6800, there will be an nv48 ( 6900 ) with 512mb for PCie and AGP launching at the end of this year.i donno wen will it release, but It shld b the possible successor of 6800GT/Ultra!?!?!?!???

I am thinkin how many of us will buy the refresh series, if they r launched, for jus 20FPS more, or will wait for the new nv50??

The card won't be that fast. For sure. But why do you guys talk about the 6700? It's just a 6800 for PCI-E. It's nothing really new just as the X600XT is for example. I think nVIDIA will soon launch either a 6850 or a 6900 card. That'll be something new.

usually we hear rumors about next nvidia card even months before they are released, from nv40 seems nvidia has bought some new guards because we are having really little if not even 0 informations about their next projects

in these days i have got a new idea: maybe they wont release a new card but just an highter clocked 6800U avaible only in PCI-E

could be possible?

Looking at the review from Hexus on the SLI and the clock speeds for the XFX6800 U that they have on the SLI, i'm starting to believe that we will only see refresh doe PCI-E with bigger clock speeds.

that cards a fkin dustbuster. This is funny the x850 cards are like the 5950FX cards were except for ATi, a big ass noisy cooler and some mhz and now they are gfx king again!! but then as ATi did to nvidia with the 9800XT nvidia will turn around and make some card that blows it away and doesnt sound like a dustbuster.

Its like history repeating itself backwards.

And i love that huge double slot cooler, wow its impressive. Except for half the memory is on the back of the card with no cooling whatsoever or possibly some weak heatsink over it if ATi is nice about it. Seriously im not nVidiot but ATi is just ruining their reputation as the best bang for your buck. 9800XT was THE card to have, it blew away any FX and now this crap. They need to get their crap together and if they release some new card give it sm3.0 and put cooling on ALL the memory.
