i have an eVGA FX 5900 SE 128mb card, i've used it for almost a year now and i recently started playing graphics intensive games again and noticed i'm getting massive fps loss after a few minutes of playing, even when i turn the graphics down

turns out when i'm in HL2 my GPU temps reach 140 C!

i need to get a better cooler for this thing and was wondering what are the options, i like the looks of the Thermaltake Giant II / III but i cant get a responce from the manufactorer to find out if it'll fit my card or not

what are my options for this card? i'm afraid to order a $30 heat sink only to find out it doesnt fit

my system specs are as follows
P4 2.8ghz
768mb PC233
250 watt power supply

is there any differences in the XT and SE model 5900?

does anyone have any experience with the thermaltake Giant II? its a giant heatsink that engulfs the entire card, it cost about the same as the arctic cooling fan, i was almost ready to get that one

thanks for the link swork, if i dont get any info on the thermaltake i'm goin with that one, looks simple enough for me :)

Not at all... its just different manufactures labeling their products differently. All 5900XT/SE cards run the same clocks(300(2d)/390(3d)/700) and technologies(256bit mem and 8pixelpipes), some have even uped the gpu clock to 400, a meager 10mhz will not make any difference in performance.

I have the nvsilencer 3 from NCIX and I'm damn happy. Just use Arctic Silver instead of what comes with the cooler... I didn't.
