K8N Neo 2
Bios ver 1.41 beta
Athlon 64 3200 Winchester

I originally set my HT to 4x. I tried someone's suggestion of setting the max mem overclock to 133 and to get my OC to 2.6. Computer froze so I had to use the bios reset jumper. After that I couldn't change my HT frequency from the default 5x. When I "select" HT freqeuncy, the computer freezes. Help!

clear the cmos and start over. You have a jumper on the 'JBat' prong that needs to be shorted so you can go back to the basic setting.

Dont hit Enter when you select the htt option; intead use the -/+ keys on the numberpad to change the multi. It suxs they still haven't fixed this

OK, good to know I'm not the only one who's having this trouble.

BTW, where are you folks getting these beta BIOS files from? Do they offer any appreciable tweaking or performance upgrades over the official 1.3?

Coolio. I'm probably not going to flash anything because I'm not having any problems at the moment. But good to know it's there in case I feel saucy one day. :D

I was feeling saucy today (must be all the gravy I'm going to consume w/dinner this afternoon  ). I downloaded and flashed the modified 1.37 BIOS and it's pretty nifty so far. I tried upping my FSB/RAM to 275/230 and it seems to be stable thus far. I'm not getting the random video lockups that I was getting on the MSI 1.3 BIOS. I may try for 278/233 later to fully exercise the potential of my memory.

Speaking of, has anyone seen the OCZ Platinum EL DDR466 - 2-3-3-8 timings. :drooling:

It's just speed binned 3200EL, same TCCD. I thought about getting some of it in the hopes it would perform better @ 250 then my 3200EL and was told it's unlikely it could maintain Cas 2.0 @ that speed. So I just stuck with the 3200EL for now.

Is this (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-890&depa=1) the stuff you have? Are you able to do 2-2-2-5 at your current FSB? If I knew I could do DDR466 at those timings, I might just sell my PMI and trade up. Do you think at those timings I could break 7,000 mb/s in bandwidth? Right now I'm playing with my PMI at its rated DDR466 and the best I can get with the timings in my sig is around 6,750 mb/s.

Yep that's the memory I'm running righ tnow. I can't do 2-2-2-5 @ 250, no... Gotta drop down to 2.5-3-3 for that. Even the PC3700EL probably won't reach 2-3-3 @ 250. Which is why I haven't bothered to get any of it to try out. :)

233 @ 2-3-3 breaking 7,000? TBH I'm not sure... I'd have to doubt it though because even though those are some nice timings 233 is still a bit on the short side for breaking 7,000 IMO. AFAIK there is no memory rated for 2-2-2 @ 233 btw.

It's probably not going to matter because my system (as referenced in the other thread) isn't stable at 280x9. Temps are good, but HL2 crashes. Dropping back to 275 seems to make everything all nice and happy, albeit at a price of 100 mb/s of memory bandwidth. Oh well, not like 6,600 is bad by any stretch.

No I think you're suffering with that 3500+ @ 2.4. :p

You dog you. :D

2.47, thankyouverymuch. :p

I guarantee it's the memory that's holding me back. It's strange, though, because I ran a couple loops of 3DMark and played Far Cry for a bit on the 280 FSB and it was fine. But Half-Life 2 no likey. Very strange it is. :|

You should set the HTT multiplier to 3x not 4x. (BY using +/- keys). If you attempt a high OC you'll be exeeding the 1000mhz the HT can do.
(At 2.6ghz on a 3000+ you run 289x9 wich results in a HT frequency of 867mhz. With HTT multi on 4 you'd be at 1156 wich would result in a unstable or freezing system.)

I actually just found this option in my bios and remember reading about it awhile back. The thing is all my Bios lets me do is enable HT or disable, non of the 3x or 4x stuff. I wonder if it's the samething?

I did test with Sandra, enabling it gives me a 1200pts(5200 to 6400) increase in the memory test. :) I'll leave it on.
