View Full Version : Is the 6800NU good for a 1600x1200 LCD monitor?

I have pretty much decided on the Dell 2001FP. I now need to choose a video card to go with it. I am still a little uncertain exactly if it matters I have to run everything at 1600x1200 to get the most out of the monitor. I guess I would have to leave off AA and AF in most instances, right?

I guess what I'm asking, are any of you using the 6800NU with a 1600x1200 LCD and if so, how does it do? Or is the 6800GT really the card you need?

The extra 256 mb of RAM of the 6800 GT will help if you intend to game at 1600x1200 all the time. If you can spend the extra money on the GT, go for it. You won't be sorry.

I'd also recommend 6800GT if you are gonna do 1600x1200 all the time.

Definitely the GT. If you play at 1600x1200 with the NU, not only will you not be able to use AA or AF, but you're going to have to turn down the normal graphic settings for alot of games. So even though you can probably live without AA at 1600x1200, you'd still have to play newer games at medium or low quality...in which case whats the point of splurging on a nice LCD?

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, I guess I'll pass for now. I don't certainly need something right at this moment anyway, so I can afford to wait. Maybe the 6800GT's will come down in price after the first of the year, or maybe the (gasp) new ATI's will be something to consider.

Meanwhile, I'll keep playing on my 21" flat CRT with my 128meg Quadro card.
