Last night I ended up installing SP2, which turned out to be a big mistake. I'm using the MX 700 and my pointer keeps edging over to the left by itself now and again when I am moving the mouse. Installing the logitech mouseware "solves" this issue but the god damn morons at Logitech can't seem to do anything right either. Now when I try to use the side buttons in my games they are not responsive, if I try to set them in the game options I go back to the main option menu because one of the buttons is of course the "back" button. Has anyone else had the same problem and does anyone know how to perhaps get the Logitech drivers working the way I want them and not how Logitech wants them?

Yeah there is abug in SP2 that makes some mice (not just Logitech) do funny things.
One mouse here is jumping in the upper right corner here from time to time and with other mouse the pointer just starts moving by itself even if I don't move the mouse at all. I reported these bugs several times to Microsoft during beta test of SP2 but they just don't listen, as is typical for MS. Shame on them.

Well it's good to know more people are experiencing this, of course I have a feeling Microsoft will not do anything about it.

Edit: I've been on the phone for around 30 minutes to them and I have some support number and a "engineer" is going to call. So next week I will get a call from some Indian guy asking me if I can see my mouse on the desk.

In the meantime does anyone know how to sort out the problems with logitech whoring the mouse buttons?

my 20 dollar logitec optical Logitec mouse works flawlessly before and after SP2.

Besides, if it realy was a issue with logitech mice and Windows , don't you think
a lot of people would have this problem. if your using a wirless mouse, it could just be inteferance that every wireless device must deal with.

i would play around with the wireless channels (if any) before jumping to conclusions.

could be the mouse itself too.

You might have to switch back to the MS driver for your buttons to work in games.

I had the same problem, I upgraded to the latest MouseWare and games wouldn't recongnize the extra buttons.

I've always thought that WinXP SP2 was borked. I have the Logitech MX Duo mouse and keyboard combo. I don't think I'll install SP2 any time soon. There are just too many problems with it.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War wouldn't install on WinXP SP2 before. I hope M$ gets the bugs out of SP2. Until M$ proves that SP2 is better for gamers I'm sticking with SP1.

I also have the mx duo with the mx 700 cordless mouse. I've never been able to get the other buttons to work in any game. But I've always installed the logitech drivers so I didn't know that they would work with out them. As far as the SP2 bug, I don't know cause I had my drivers installed.

So that explains why my mouse pointer keeps moving on it's own every now and then! (xmastong)
i thought my Optical Logitech mouse was starting to die. I took it apart ad cleaned it inside. Somehow it was full of cat hair and dust.
Well now it's clean.

BTW the gravis pilot mouse is only $19.00 and comes with with a free copy of Splinter Cell.

I'm using a logitech mx duo on Windows SP2 and don't seem to have any problems, yet. I say yet because I just got it two days ago.

I've only just noticed the thread, so you've probably figured it out already... Anyway, I had the same problems some time ago with my MouseMan Dual (cursor jerking to the side with MS drivers, no side buttons in games with MW). The solution is to install Logitech's drivers alone, without the Mouseware crap.

Uninstall mouseware, then extract files from the installer (the mouseware setup file is a basically a self-extracting archive). Install the driver normally from the Mouse applet in Control Panel, the driver inf is in the "Win2K_XP" subfolder in the MW archive. This solved all my problems.

Hope this helps :)
