ok my system,

athlon 64 3000+
asus k8n-e deluxe
512mb ram
6800 ultra

after doing some testing alongside my mates computer in farcry i realise i am getting pretty poor performance, my friend only has an ati 9800 pro, and a lesser pentium 4. we put all the settings to max except the resolution which was 1028x768 with vsync enabled.

On the multiplayer map surf, we both stood at the peer and looked at the sniping tower, he gets 28 fps, i get 20 :retard:

When we all anti and anastrophic of, he gets a higher frame rate.

In cs source we both get 43 frames with the graphics ramped up, but mine ocassionally dropping below his.

I have all the latest drivers for my mobo ect. and i am using the 66.93s, Should i not be doing better than this for a 400 quid card? :drooling:

Maybe vsync is on for you and not him...

U should be doing way better, try running your card in his system to see if its bunk.

Did u install driver correctly? Did u do a fresh install of WinXP when u changed cards?

It is always best to do a fresh install of Windows Xp when moving from one card to another. Generally it is said you can also get away with just, uninstalling the dirvers of your video card in safe mode. Then running driver cleaner to remove all the drivers of your previous vid card. Then re-booting and installing drivers for the new card.

Remember to have vsync off.

Could it have something to do with other programs running in the background clogging up your memory? Just a thought. Sounds like everybody thought of everything else. My card runs slower if I have something big running in the background occasionally. Too bad you can't swap it easy eh?

there is something wrong here, other websites who made demos on the Pier map have reported significantly higher FPS. In Far Cry, I use 1280 by 1024 with 4XAA and 8XAF with ULTRA settings (Patch 1.3) and I see a average 60+ fps across the range of maps with my 6800 Ultra.

eitehr u are doing something wrong or your card is borked. I suggest you try the card on a different system or RMA it.

Run 3dmark 03 , for us as baseline score , usually when system got a major problem its easy to spot it via benchmark program.

You should score over 11000 close to 12000+ without AA , AF , Vsync.

When I got my PC, it came with a FX5200 so I got the newest Detonator drivers, I then got a Geforce6800GT and kept those drivers, although I've upgraded to the 66.93... Because they're both Nvid cards, would reinstalling XP when I got the GT6800 been a good idea?

This was with 4xAA and 8xAF enabled from the displays advanced setting. With far cry benchmarking utilitys own 4xAA and 8xAF I got a 2fps higher score :)

In HL2 my fps drops sometimes even to as low as <20 but I'm sure it has to do with cpu bottlenecking (xmasmile) (xmasmile)

Edit: new benchmarks show that I may not be as cpu bottlenecked as I thought
