I am using the first official non beta release, and the cpu usage is extremely high, I notice it especially at Toms hardware and tech report. Anyone else having a similar problem?

Yes. Sometimes on some sites. I usually have to restart it to get around the problem. Don't think it's unique to this release though.

It is definitely frustrating, although I like so much about it that I don't think I could switch back to IE just yet.

Try using one of third party optimized builds:

Why do you think it can cache and load web sites so fast? Duh!

since the memory usage doesn'r occur except when using it i don't mind. what i do mind is that it has a compatibility problem with the last 4 releases of windows blinds 4.

It is macromedia flash. It is borked running under Mozilla. Remove your plugins and try it again. CPU usage down to nothing.

primary reason it is my secondary browser...

I like some features but I can't stand the sluggishness...

same here! Once Microsoft, or someone else figures out a way to do BOTH tabbed AND new window browsing like Mozilla/Firefox, I'm switching back to IE.

BTW, I know there's browsers that have tabbed functionality, that use IE as the core, however, none of them have the easy option to open link in new window too! I want both.

I think the PDF problem is just adobe acrobat reader being flakey.

Exactly. I've switched back to Avant Browser for the time being (Opera's still too slow/buggy). Though I'm going to try and revert back to an older Firefox build to see if the Flash issues go away.

I think a lot of the problem lies with Macromedia not having updated their plugin for several months when there have been many changes to the core of Firefox. We may be barking up the wrong tree here.
