Ok so I have a PNY 6800 128 (CompUSA Special, capacitor intact) that seems to be very underpowered. I'm comparing 3DMark03 scores, Doom3 Timedemo, & CS:Source numbers from other users with the same level of 6800.

3DMark03 average for this card is between 8000-1000. My score is 6100. I'm not even in the ballpark with other users. This card seems to lag on the middle two GPU tests on the demo. Here's a link (http://www.slideone.com/Futuremark%20-%20ORB%20-%20Project%20Comparison.htm) comparing my card with another user who scored 9000 with the same CPU & GPU.

Some Doom 3 #'s
10x7 HQ - 48.3
10x7 HQ 4x AA - 39.3
12x10 HQ - 44.5

I've tried 2 different drivers. The stock issue off PNY's website & the latest off nVidia's site. I've reinstalled the card and drivers twice. Any help appreciated.

For what it's worth here's some system specs:
Athlon XP 2800+ ASUS A7N8X 1GB CorsairXMS PNY 6800-128

I'll add that I was/am trying to replace a 9700 Pro card with this 6800. The 9700Pro runs very well in this system. Keeping up with other users with the same type of setup. So I don't think the issue is with the other components causing a video conflict or not being setup properly.

Thanks for any help!

One thing's for certain, the other guy has enabled all pixel pipelines on his card, so that would explain the high fillrate etc. I can't pinpoint what's your pc's problem though. Maybe someone else can help.

My brother and my backup pc have 6800's and the one scores 8200 with 12 pipes and 9200 with 16 pipes and the other is BFG and can only run 12 pipes and it gets 9000 @ 375/750. My bro's comp was getting about 6500 with a similar system to yours (MSI Board, AXP2800+, 512MB Ram) and I just installed the newest chipset drivers and it knocked the score up to over 8000 because it wasn't detecting the AGP8X and it was only running in PCI mode this could be your problem.

Yeah it should be around 8k ~ 9k in 03. Mine is over 11k with the V9999GE.
Install NV's nForce drivers sounds like an AGP driver issue.

I did install the nForce 5.10 chipset drivers before testing. Those should be the latest...

make sure v-sync is off in your driver settings and use coolbits to see if you card is running AGP8X and make sure 8X enabled is checked off in the BIOS.

vsync is off. With Coolbits I show 8x for everything except under the OS which says 2x. Also why would I disable the 8x in the BIOS? I've always had it enabled...

Thanks

You need to flash new bios. If you download rivaturner u can check if you have 12pipes and 5vprocessor. Chances are you only have 8 and 4 that is why you have such a low score. I dont know if your manufacturer provide bios update but you can try and download latest bios for bfg 6800 or leadtek a400.

Lfctony is wrong, I have a leadtek 6800 stock which gives me over 9000 3dmarks03 too. I get around 72 FPS in doom 3 high quality 1024X768.
To give you an idea im using:
P4C 2.8
Corsair LL 1024
Asus P4P800 deluxe

So my system is definitely the bottleneck here with doom3 at least.

erm dude, with a Barton 2800+@2.2GHz and a 6800 Ultra I got

on Doom III with optimizations off;

1024 by 768, HQ 8XAF by default and 0Xaa = 58 or so FPS
1024 by 768, HQ 8XAF by default and 4Xaa = 50 or so FPS

1280 by 1024, HQ 8XAF by default and 0Xaa = 50 or fps
1280 by 1024, HQ 8XAF by default and 4Xaa = 45 or fps

With 66.81 drivers...I get some boosts...but now that I have upgraded CPUs froma Barton to FX53 :p stay tuned....

I shouldn't need a BIOS update with a new card espcially since none of the other owners of this CompUSA special have complained of sub par performance that I know of. Just some missing capacitors :o

I do have 12pipes and the 5v enabled so thats not it.

Thanks

Ok so I found out what the issue was for the most part at least for the 3DMark03 scores. FRAPS!!! How the hell? For some reason every time I ran a test I had Fraps enabled which cut my score down by almost 2000 points. Has anyone else ran into this with Fraps? Odd!

Here are some comparison #'s that I did against my 9700 Pro card. I don't know why there isn't a bigger difference between the Doom3 #'s !? and the 6800 is even lower at 800x600!! At least most of this saga is over...

GPU 9700 Pro 6800-128

3DMark03 4920 8055

CS:Source
10x7 84.9 94.7
10x7 4x AF 71.6 93.0
10x7 4x 4x 90.6
12x9 67.4 90.7
12x9 4x AF 56.1 88.1
12x9 4x 4x 81.3

Doom 3 Timedemo
8x6 HQ 49.7 47.2
10x7 MQ 41.5 46.4
10x7 HQ 39.9 46.9
12x10 HQ 27.6 42.7

If you are running your memory at 2225 you are likely to get higher score in 3dmark03. Also your system is too slow for doom3 that is why you get such a low score, your system is holding you back.

oops missed one of your replies.

Try using driver cleaner and remove ATI, Nvidia drivers reinstall DX9c and install the Nvidia chipset drivers again then the Nvidia graphics driver.
