I was just reading the Xbit review on the x850xt pe. First off...for 20 mhz difference..i dont know why they made something that expensive..it dosen't really make any sense to pay that much money for a 20mhz increase in the core. The review how ever compares the x850xt pe vs the x800xt...not the pe version.

Anyway..why does ATi think the 6800GT is there compitor and not 6800Ultra..from reading that i get the impression that ATi is after the 6800GT and not the Ultra O.o (mikec)

There is something wrong with this

Look at the last 2 charts "Research"....look at the min and max fps on the 6800GT on those last two results.....is it me or is something really wrong with that.

I believe those results to be accurate. When I had my 6800U, there were a few rare points in Far Cry where my frame rate would plunge into the 20-30 range for no apparent reason. This does not happen with my X800.

Yeah. It's a little strange. Look here:

Might be a CPU limitation, but that is quite a difference though. Xbit did state they disabled one of the optimizations for nvidia cards in the article you linked.
