We thought Sound Blaster Auidgy 4 Pro is the next card and Creative not going to make PCI Express sound card, not so! :)

Sound Blaster Zenith (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=1430&s=1) is the next generation Sound Blaster card to replace Auidgy, it will be the first PCI Express sound card scheduled to launch in March 2005. :D

I am sure Zenith technical spec will include EAX 5 and Dolby Digital encoder and others. :)

And there I am using onboard sound and only EAX1...

Seriously... is anyone buying soundblaster cards anymore?

(this is in no way a judgement of your thread, I'm actually curious and thought for a long while about the audigy ZS, but then saw no reason other than wasting money better spend on ram DDR533 for example)

how is money spent on DDR2 533 when it's pretty much the same speed as DDR 400? It has much higher latencies, too.

With that being said, I want to upgrade from my Live! to an Audigy 2 ZS

You know, I like the sound Audigy cards produce. I have used 3 speaker sets with my Audigy 2 Platinum but...

I have never had to handle such a ******* annoying peice of hardware in my life. Updating drivers is just hell, and there's always something not working. Their drivers are complete bloat and require WAY too much fiddling to get the sound you want.

Right now everything seems fine. I'm getting correct 5.1 positioned audio and my settings in windows are for 2 desktop speakers...

A lot of the time the Audigy drivers will cause bluescreens. Right now I cant play UT2004 because of this problem.

Bah, good sound, worst software I've ever hendled.

PCI Express only (mikec)
Why do you laugh AthlonXP1800 ??

Hmm it's time to start gathering money for buying a new PC with PCI Express support :(

Damn you Intel
AGP and PCI slowly die as it seems...So we have not choice but to throw our current AGP system to the trash soooner or later

Yeah, the only reason I purchased my Audigy 2ZS was that it came with 5 games, Halo, Splinter Cell, exc..., hell, it was only $115, which I planned to spend on games anyway. Pretty good investment. Really nice sound, never had ANY driver problems. Now what about that Audigy 4 ???????

meh. my bad. you don't normally hear about DDR533 and since 533 is pretty much the only available speed of DDR2, i assumed. I shouldn't have. I have disgraced you and myself and family.

*gets out samurai sword*

I will set this straight...

doesnt say PCI-E only does it? only that it comes in PCI-E variant, so it MIGHT come as PCI aswell..
would be a ton of money in that for creative atleast, which is usually a good incentive for companies..

My Audigy is lying about at the moment using onboard sound as it has Optical out. I am happy with it. Also far less crap is installed :)

I think i will sell my Audigy2 ZS now and when i get a PCI-E board i can get the Zenth and they better have SP/DIF or Optical digital on card
