I don't mind upgrading, but is it worth it?

Set up:

AMD 64 3000+ @ 2.25ghz Socket 754 (2.28 seems to be the cap for some reason, i think it's the mobo, because the Newcastle's CG core is supposedly easy to OC)
1gb DDR 400 RAM
Gigabyte 6800GT
Soltek Nforce 3 150gb

It only supports 600mhz HT, and it seems to not want me to OC my processor over 2.25 otherwise it'll crash about 5 minutes after booting up.
What I'm wondering though is, would it be to my advantage to upgrade to maybe say..a nf3 250 or something better? I mean, will I notice a difference in games? I want to spend no more than $150. But will it help me in the long run?

Not really. Save up your money for an nForce4/SLI. That would be money more wisely spent.

Nf4 with SLI be available for S754????

Anyway, I don't think upgrading from an Nforce3 150 to 250 is worth it. Sure the HT is faster, but not enough in my opinion to justify spending a 100 bucks. NF3 150 is good enough if that's what you already have, you have a nice overclock, and the rest of your specs look great. But yes there is an overclocking cap on the NF3 150, it does not have working AGP/PCI lock while NF3 250 does. If your interest is overclocking and you're willing to spend a 100 bucks or so then go for it, but like I said your PC looks good enough so I'd just leave it alone for now.
