Just wondering if anyone knows if there would be a huge difference for my system if I upgrade from a ATI Radeon 9500Pro to a 6800GT.

I am running an AMD Thoroughbred CPU at 10X200 which supposedly works out to be around a 2500+ to 2600+ in AMD lingo. I had it overclocked higher (11X200) but lately it seems to be giving me problems so I put her back down. Wonder if my powersupply is dying (older thermaltake 420 watts) or my cpu. (snowlol)

Anyway, I know that my cpu will limit me but I am just wondering by how much? I was thinking of running stuff at 1280X1024 with AA on. Normally I don't ever have AA on now, with the 9500pro, and run mostly at 800x600 - 1024x768 for current games. Does anyone have a similar system as mine who's upgraded? Or maybe could point out a link? Most reviews compare video cards with a current cpu. Thanks for any info.

Welcome, I'm upgrading from ATI 9700 to 6800Gt after using the 6800Gt for not so long period of time, I have a P4 2.4 @ 3.0 and yes I saw huge performance increase over the ATI 9700.
I don't know much about your system, but even though I'm sure the 6800Gt will work much better than your 9500 pro card.

I upgraded from a 9500pro to a 6800GT, and yes, the performance boost was huge!!! It is more than twice as fast from a 9500pro.

9700 Pro overclocked (still have and use) to a 6800GT, a very huge jump in performance. Night and Day and a good time to upgrade.

Thanks for the quick replies. Looks like it would be worth it! Think I might have to get a new powersupply anyway. Hear the 6800GT is power hungry and I don't think my poor Thermaltake can take it! Thanks again.

yea that sounds like a great jump for you. Make sure you remove all of the ATI drivers in the reg so you dont hit any sanfus (better yet reformat if you can)
