The rumor about NV47 with 24 pipelines a few months ago, I thought it was a complete bunch of nonsense or maybe not. Now NV47 does not existed (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=20250).

Well after read news of Playstation 3, Jen-Hsun Huang said development of custom Nvidia chip is in parallel with the next generation chip, I believe he talked about NV50, I think NV50 is not really canned after all. (xmasmile)

so is fudo saying that nvidia has nothing to counter ati this round ?? , then why cancel nv 48 and nv 50... this has got to be total bs.

Either way Nvidia will have a product named NV50. Every chip with a zero at the end is the start to a new line. Perhaps what ever was getting the designation was killed, but im more then sure something else will pick it up.

So far the only rumor of the next gen Nvidia chip is 24 pipes.

R520 is:
.90nm process (low power draw and heat output)
8 Vertex Shader Pipes
At least 20 pixel pipes
Possible 256 version using GDDR4, 512 versions on GDDR3
ATI Multi Rendering (SLI) ready.
Promised no speed decrease due to SM3.0 usage like that it placed on Nvidia NV4x cores.

I want it now! I am interested to see what nvidia will offer though.

Man, Im glad the rumor mill is a seperate forum... I dont think I would ever buy hardware if I read this forum all the time. Theres always something 2x as powerful right around the corner ;)

Comon how much brain power is needed there? The NV47 has more pipes then the NV48 hahaha. I mean comon 24 pipes on 0.13m CPU or even a 0.11 is a bit hard to believe for a hardware respin it maybe possible from the ground up but not on an NV4x.

I say nVidia will jump the gun and release the NV50 a lot sooner than we all think.

Is this the NV50 that they cancelled, or a different one?

No, NV50 and NV48 is not cancelled, in fact they push back dates, NV48 will launch in Q2 2005 to compete with R520 and NV50 will launch either in Q4 2005 or Q1 2005 a few months before release of Windows Longhorn.

No, NV50 and NV48 is not cancelled

Evidence please? Look, you linked to a story that said that:

a) NV48 was cancelled
b) NV50 was cancelled
c) NV47 never existed

You then assert that NV50 isn't cancelled, neither is NV48, but in some automagic way they've been pushed back or something else (maybe the fairies got them). Despite these bits of The Inq story being nonsense in your mind, the bit about NV47 being vapour is OK in your mind. I'm confused. You're suggesting that Inq stories are only selectively bull****?

Do you have industry sources, or do you get your information from a fusion of what you read in forums plus your furtive imagination?

There's enough solid rumour flying around at the other place suggesting that NV50 really is canned that I'm tempted to believe it. The key to all of this is Longhorn. If you think about when the Longhorn release date was first supposed to be (2007), and where it is now (2006), I think it's pretty obvious what is going on with NV48/7, NV50 and NV60.

The project formerly known as nv50 maybe have been cancelled. Doesn't mean a scenario like another project in the works cannot now be renamed to nv50.

BAKA! (stupid, moron, dummy, etc...)

Nvidia themselves is spreading misinfo to keep everyone, expecialy ATI in the dark. Duh!
