before my 2 year church mission i did alot of modeling and animation with lightwave. at the time i was using a version i got off of irc...i know i know :firedevil . well i just recently purchased lw8 (dongle and all) and am slowing learning it all over again, but having a blast. i'll post some renders of things im working on when i think they look half decent.

so just wondering if there are any other lightwaverz or any animators in the forums...

I can't figure out how to use it... I have Bryce and Vue though... I love thouse proggies... You make me wanna install and play again...

I understand the ideas used in lightwave, but the interface is hard for me to get used to...

several years ago i went all the way through "inside lightwave 6" so i became comfortable with the interface. once you get use to it you'll see just how powerful it is. it really is genious if you as me.

I prefer 3D Studio Myself, but i've only learnt 5% of what it can do.

Bryce is a lot of fun. Its real easy to use and you can waste hours making pretty landscapes.

i use to have bryce...im talking like 5-6 years ago. i wish i kept the cd's or at least the software key...oh well. yeah i think that 3d studio is easier to use but from my experience and in my opinion lightwave (or maya, for that matter) seem to offer a more powerful suite.

well ive been working with lightwave for a while now and i just wanted to post some stuff so you guys can tell me what you think...

about a week ago i modeled this from an actual wooden elephant i had in the house...

this is a face ive been working on for the last few days from some sketches i did a few weeks ago. its almost time to move on to texturing. the little smirk was added just before i rendered just so it wouldnt look soooo boring. but as of yet the face is expressionless...

lol, sweet! i had been doing alot of doodling and was feeling itchy to start trying to model something from life and so i asked my wife to pick out an object from the house so she picked that little elephant.

I used Lightwave (pretty sure it was Lightwave) a loooong time ago. Back on an Amiga 2000HD in the early 90s. :D I'd love to get back into it one day.

yeah, i read about the early versions of lightwave. newtek (lightwaves makers) hired the coders of aegis videoscape 3d in the early 90's. ive only seen screenies of the old workspace. yikes.

anywas, i was just messing around and made a quick render of some drops of water...whatta think? are they believable?

this one has no cuastics (computationally heavy way to realistically simulate glass, water, ect..

this one has caustics...takes longer to render so i did not use any AA

today my painting prof. announced that the college will be having an art show in two weeks. any medium is accepted as long as it has not been in another school show.

i had given up on the female head i posted here a while ago because i wanted to work on another one and implement some of the things i learned from that one so i could make correct ears, ect (i didnt have all the polys in the right place on the one seen above). well, i decided to start working on it again and that i would pose the head so that you couldnt see the ears anyways. here she is with the eye lashes finished (or close to it) and a few simple splines in place for some hair. dont worry its going to get much more thick and i need to work on the color.

tell me what you think...
