i would think that's impossible as it hasn't been finished yet.

Its possible that people have been devloping for it already...
the 40.xx have supported it forever...

yeah, but we won't see any games using it until a few months after DX9 final is out to the public.

You know what i find funny is that Q3 is a Open GL game yet it needs DX to be installed for it to work lol. I am sure Doom III needs DX9 to run stable and support some of the features.

in Windows theres a good reason for that...but that doesn't mean it needs direct3d, naturally.

yeah, it uses DX for DirectInput, DirectSound, etc.

From what I know, directx is like a different OS contained in Windows in that it gives the application different priority levels and overall code to use.
Now if only I could get a OS made around it so I wouldn't waste all the RAM <g>
