Using 70.20xg and 67.02/03 and I still get them spinning red "ERROR" letters. Anyone get these to appear properly?

yup - spinning red errors, not quite as purdy as what was there before they "patched" it (snowman)

oh the irony

Gettting the VST ERRORs on 6800GT, 9800 Pro and Mobility 9800 - so we can be sure it's nothing graphics card specific. Coupled with the IP binding issue from the most recent update, it doesn't inspire confidence in Valves testing procedures!

Here's hoping that no one licenses out the source engine (mikec)

My guess would be that if a third party licenses the Source engine and sold their titles via Steam, they would be resoponsible for their own updates and so wouldn't be affected by Values sloppy testing - so long as the licensee tests the latests code drops thoroughly they would spot Valves mistakes, which may even provide positive feedback and improve the quality of Valves own titles.

So I for one would be happy to see some quality Source licensees...but only if games cost less via Steam then retail. Except for the novelty and the early CS:S access, buying HL2 via Steam was all a bit slow (quicker to drive to Game than wait for the download to complete) and expensive (At the time Game price matched it to 29.99 @ $1.80$/ - so ~$54 for retail than it was to download it and pay $58 via Steam). Maybe when Valve crawl out from under the Vivendi/Sierra contract they'll be able to drop the price to a more sensible level.
