I tried it out on a geforce MX 420 and although it looked horrible on the very lowest settings it was just about playable... just.

Yes, it'll be quite playable (hell, I've even played the game on an Intel Integraded Extreme chip and it was playable). Won't look all that great, but framerate should be decent at medium quality.

Really? Insane!

Yes, I think HL2 is the most GPU lenient game I've played in recent years. I'm almost tempted to put in my old Voodoo 3 and see if it would run the game...

Oh yeah? Well tell HL2 then that when i buy it (emphasis on when), me and my S3 Virge DX will be ready for it. :D

You may notice a little stuttering, but thats expected with any gfx card you have ;) :D

I'm sure you didn't with all settings that low.

I'm sure you didn't with all settings that low.

All settings were auto detected by HL. Everything is at medium except shaders, there set at high for some reason.

One of my friends runs with a GF4 MX420. I've only seen what CS:S looks like, not HL2. I must say, the water sometimes looks like milk, other times like cool-aid. He has everything on low, with DX7. I believe that he decent framerates, considering that he's pretty good at CS.

everything looked fine on the mx420. I dont really notice much difference at all with my new 6600GT, smoother, alittle sharper, but everything looks the same to me.

Really? What about the "fading in" effect from far objects? What about the water? Those are just the top two that come off my brain.

That's because the MX 440 does not support programmable shaders anyways.
