View Full Version : F1 2005
The 2005 Formula One calendar. 19 races, the British GP was saved; China, rather than Japan, ends the season, and Turkey has a race:

you and me both. I was all fired up about the new PC game "F12005". let's get him! (mikec)
Schumi to donate $10 mill to the tsunami victims:

Sauber delays launch of 2005 car, out of respect for the victims:

Ferrari boycotting the French, British GPs? those races aren't sponsored by tobacco dollars anymore, and they'd probbaly like the revenue back. still races mean points, and Ferrari would probably do good in both races so it's unlikely that they'd skip them in protest. also, Fia may punish them further (by taking away points or fining them) for skipping the events.

F1 qualy system id still undecided. you think they'd might try to get a system in place well in advance of the season. if all else fails, they can always resort to rock, paper, scissors.

schumi likely to still dominate though I would love to see kimi, sato, button, alonso and co make a charge and make the field a little more competitive...

And I thought NASCAR was bad years ago when Jeff Gordon won everything. I couldn't stand following a sport in which one driver won 14 out of 19 races.

If 2005 starts off the same way 2004 went, I'll probably give up on F1 for the year and watch more NASCAR and Grand Am.
Sorry, but the parade is just getting to be ridiculous.
lol my sentiments exactly!
bull muya
I know you didn't stop watching the devils when they were sweeping all before them the past decade...
Ferrari will race at England and France. points are points, regardless of how much it costs to run at those races.

Button: I can win in Australia. hmm, don't think so, not at BAR, not with the team split, half hating you for betraying them, half trying to get you across the finish line. i think Button will be replaced halfway through the 2005 season, freeing him to join a Williams in 2006.

Schumi not retiring anytime soon? why not? he's got nothing left to prove, he's the best. he's the most popular driver in F1, but his success also makes him the most hated. if he still enjoys the competition (and judging by his exuberant celebrations when winning, he still does), then he should continue racing.

You know, after Brazil i swore i won't see an F1 race for at least a year but the closer we get, the more anxious i am to see the cars in action again. :D
The new Sauber C24 has raised a few eyebrows with its front wing. I don't agree that its that radical but...
http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=74017
In the meantime, Michael's saying the same stuff again about McLaren (said them last year too). I think its natural to say a good word for the manufacturer that payed (Jordan) for his Spa debut:
http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=74005
I would dismiss Williams anyway. This year they have no drivers. Frank and Patrick would probably be a better line-up. As for McLaren well, lets just say that last year i had a bet with a friend of mine as to which engine would have the honour to break first (under the new back then engine regulations) and i said that it would be a McLaren car but it would at least complete 10 laps before going up in smoke. Of course i lost because that ****ing piece of **** broke on lap 9  :p :D
My attention is redirected to BAR and Toyota. Will Honda give Mercedes a run for its money (in terms of broken engines)? David Richards has warned them that they might not get the better results they expect this year. Will Toyota improve massively with the aid of Trulli and R Shumacher? This has to be their last chance, they've had a big push, they're running out of excuses, and if they can't deliver this year (and especially if Honda has a positive year again) they're in trouble. I don't expect Renault to be better than last year (of course they're going for the title or so they say), but i hope Fisichella will own the much hyped Alonso. And to think that FW had the chance to sign Fisi and preffered Webber instead makes me, oh well. We'll see.
Villeneuve tests his new Sauber ... and of course he experiences technical problems whilst his team-mate has no probs whatsoever. is he cursed? i hope he does well. re the Sauber wing: i hope it doesn't suck as much as the Williams-BMW whale front wing from last season, which was changed mid-way through the season.

Shnaider (a Russian born Canadian) apparently has purchased Jordan F1, which has been underfunded and underperforming for years. if the renamed Midland F1 team has the money needed to fund a team, this could be a good move for the sport, and for Jordan, who couldn't afford it anymore (and still has a job with the team).

DC doesn't think some of the new rules will last long, especially the qualifying format, which is now spread over two days (Sat and Sun morning), mainly because of complaints from tv networks. i don't know why they don't just have pre-qualy on Fri with the main session on Sat, like they used to do.

Oh ****. :D :D i love that track, but they just had to butcher it didn't they? Good info though :D
hockheim is great. i have probably done about 1000 laps on that circuit alone. then there is monza and spa. Pick up a copy of this game. you wont regret it :D
confirmed, Jordan has been sold to a Russo-Canadian. sweet. there were rumours last year that there would be a new team in F1, based in Canada, not connected to Schnaider, though, so it is still possible that there may be two teams owned by Canadians (or, at the very least, have major connections to Canadian investors or companies):

testing limits in F1, not backed by Ferrari of course. FIA has also proposed a number of cost cutting schemes, including reducing race weekend from 3 to 2 days.

GPWC, the break-away F1 series, may never happen, with Ferrari in discussion for a new Concorde Agreement. just get it done, split the money, and race the cars. no one needs to knoe about the business behind the sport

Heidfeld to get the sewcond car for the Williams team? it looks more likely after going head to head against Pizzonia.

Now why would you say that? Because Ferrari decided not to abandon the ship they've been sailing for the past 5 decades?
All of the other teams are leaving because they see something in it for them. Ferrari was able to negotiate a good position in the F1 World Series, so they stayed.
Tell me, what is Ferrari doing differantly than any other team in F1 (besides winning)?
well i cant stand them. arrogant schumacher should just piss off and retire
