Alright guys, I just had to bring this topic up because at least from where I am from (L.A. Basin), the tension between the Lakers and Heat is off the hook. Who will win this Christmas day in Lakers vs. Heat? I'm taking Superman's team, the Heat cuz I just think Kobe won't hang against him! (mikec)
Considering the Lakers have no big man to contest Shaq, I'm gonna have to say the Heat are gonna take it.
Also with Kobe taking every shot down the floor, and a Laker coach who insists on running Pick and Rolls on a 2/3 Zone... The Lakers are not shaping up to good this year :)

From what I hear, every ESPN sports analyst agrees with you, jAkUp. I don't think that Lakers will ever get to the spot they once had.

The Heat might win, but lets not say that Kobe takes all the shot down the floor...Have you guys even watched a Laker game lately? Chris Mim has been shooting and rebounding well, JJ hit 7 3 pointers the other night (6 of them in a row). Odom, Brown and Cook have all been contributing more than I expected. Yes I'm a Laker Fanboy, no the Lakers arn't the same team and probably never will be, but they are a young team now. They arn't playing bad at all and will only get better...

Heat.
A better game on the same day will be the Indiana vs. Detroit game. ;)
I just hope I get to see Shaq, choke or accidentally step on Kobe. (xmasgrin)

but remember that mihm is goona be oplayed by shaq and he sitn going to be shotting or rebounding on that. also, shaq is going into this to "humble" Kobe and his big mouth. my money is on shaq having a season high set of stats.
heat...
they have a better all round team... and their transition D is not too shabby...
lakers have no one to counter shaq... and the heat have been more consistent...
lakers are hardly a bad team though... playing a damn sight better than the pistons or the hornets...
---
wrt indiana v/s detroit... I expect to see indiana pull it out.. a sentimental fav for me there...

Every team has a high point, and lakers just had theirs these past few seasons. Time for a new champion team to roll out.

I hate both Shaq and Kobe but I think the Lakers wont even make it to the play offs let alone win this game. Really it doesn't matter who wins. It is a long season. What does matter is that my Sonics continue to surprise me with a great second half of the season.

Man I hope the fans take a set of boxing gloves and some bandages with them just in case if Round 2 happens :box: What I would really like to see would be a confrontation between Shaq and Kobe, ahh what the hell, just wanna see some sweat and blood in the games to come

I'm from Cleveland. Two words: Lebron James. 'nuff said.
Now, back to the regularly scheduled program. (mikec)

Two more words for you: over rated. When I see more from him than commercials then we can talk turkey.

lakers have had a few different high points in their history... they are hardly one shot wonders...
they have a decent team right now.. a coupla pieces more and they will be right there back in the thick of it...
kobe... as good as he is... needs help and he knows that now and that experience will help him...
wrt pistons/pacers... with o'neal back... gonna make things ultra interesting :D
Yep, O'Neal is back...for a little while at least. :) I hope Stern let's the decision stand.
david stern currently has pen0s envy...
but I think given a federal judge upheld the decision... it makes sense he would let it stand...
we will see o'neal tomorrow if he's fit :)

I don't think they were owned...but I see a heat team that won without Shaq! They proved to me tonight that they have some skills on that squad....
yah the heat have won a few different games w/o shaq...
they have good role players and dwayne wade is currently one of the most under-rated players in the league...
they play good team ball..
lakers are not @ full strength... they are missing divac (rather an un-injured divac), devean george, medvedenko and butler was suspended today...
once they have a full team together, they will be a decent team... unlikely to be champs but they can make some noise...
the heat, once they get more consistency and win more consistently by bigger margins, they will be contenders...
right now I am stickin with the suns and sonics and spurs as my top 3 :D

If it wasnt for Wade and the other Jones(Not Eddie) after Shaq got fouled out, I guarntee the Heat would of lost. Btw I was rooting for Heat also.
Wade is a hot player, meaning he may be the next allstar.

Lakers performed alot better than I expected. Kobe played very well and should have felt proud of himself for doing so good. Lakers are still playoff potential, as well with the Heat. We will see what happens in the future to come for both teams. But we all know the Kings will be taking it this year, no doubt bout it :D
