These things are selling like crazy and ppl are willing to pay OTT for it. In HKG a few auction are going for USD$500 for the value pack but...

Would you pay $850 for one???

I agree with Jakup on this one. I'd pay no more than $250AUD though.

Even if I wanted one, I wouldn't pay more than MSRP.

console games/gaming does nothing for me. I'd expect to be paid to take one.

:rofl

I payed $300 for a nice PDA last year, it was a 300mhz Viewsonic PDA, I had a few games... Doom, quake, I thought I would get some use out of it. I ended up using it for about 2 weeks. LOL Never again will I spend my money on little gadgets :)

Dun forget though PSP = almost the same as PS2...that on a hand held system is saying a lot...but not $800!! I just bid USD$250 in an auction in HKG for the basic pack. I expect to get out bid though

Wait until the battery probs are sorted and the second fall price drop, then I'd probably get it.

Word has it in EGM that a rep from Sony says they plan on selling close to the same price of a Nintendo DS, so look for a price tag of under $200.

I would pay 300 USD for it... I wanted to import one and was set on it... until I saw the prices of them right now lol. I guess I will have to wait for the US one lol.

The PSP will probably retail for $150 or $175, its common that systems sell cheaper in the US then they do in Japan. I will probably get one on its release, the unit looks amazing!

I am rarely an early adopter when it comes to consoles/handhelds. I'd rather save my money and wait until there are games that I want to play before dropping $$ on them.

That said, I'll probably be getting one of the new handhelds. Which one depends on the games that are released for 'em. I gotta say, though, Metal Gear Ac!d looks pretty dang sweet.

Can't wait for GT4 Mobile! Looks as good as the Ps2 version.

If I had one I can honestly say id barely use it.

Plus theres supposedly a recall on the first batch due to pixel problems, anyone who pays 850 for it is gonna be in for a surprise.

Consider Sony's track record with hardware...I'm waiting at least 6 months before getting a PSP [for MSRP]. I can do without my handhelds shooting out their media like those nerf guns.

Exactly! My dad gave me a REALLY old Palm Pilot that he didn't use anymore. I pretty much had it for my contacts' info (email addresses, phone numbers, etc) only and I only used it for maybe a month. The batteries died and I lost everything. I haven't looked back.

Some people can't live without them, but me...I'm still trying to come up with a good reason to even think about using one.

My mobile phone is my PDA. it holds numbers (mobile, home, work) email addies and addresses all under one name. I don't need a PDA.
