NV35 comming out in the midde of '03!!!!

No way I'm getting GeForce FX if the follow up is comming next year.

If NV35 has a 256-bit bus, 2nd TMU per pipe and better FSAA

then forget GeForceFX!

just paste it into your web browser to see the roadmap.

Releasing the NV35 only 4-6 months after the NV30? Doesn't that cut the balls off many potential NV30 sales?

OK, I had nothing to do tonight, so I went through nvidia's press releases to determine how much time passed between various releases.

I've probably missed a few since I just went by the more major chipsets.

TNT to TNT2: 352
TNT2 to GF256: 166
GF256 to GF2GTS: 236
GF2GTS to GF2Ultra: 108
GF2Ultra to GF3: 188
GF3 to GF3Ti: 219
GF3Ti to GF4Ti: 125
GF4Ti to GF FX: 282

Average is 7 months

Here's (I think) the total days between major releases (non-ultra/ti), as always, I could be wrong on the time span, and major releases, lol
TNT to TNT2: 352
TNT2 to GF256: 166
GF256 to GF2GTS: 236
GF2GTS to GF3: 296
GF3 to GF4Ti: 344
GF4Ti to GF FX: 282

Average is 9 months, 9 days

Told ya I had nothing to do

Now flame on about what this means, if anything

*edit, had the wrong date for GF3 launch, which changed the respective counts by 8 days

I think the NV30 is throwing that average out a bit... being three months before the product hits the shelves and all. ;)

Seriously, I wonder how the same information would look presented in "product availability" dates? My own figuring had placed that at 10 to 11 months between major launches, only going back to the GF2 GTS though.

Problem with that, is nvidia doesn't always put out a press release saying "you can buy it now".

well, I don't know about 4 months, I don't see what would be wrong with 6 months after NV30 (early summer) for a "GeForceFX2" afterall, nVidia used to bring out new chips and then an enhanced core at 6 month intervals

how old is that roadmap, they show NV30 as a 2H 02 product, when we all know it won't be available till Q1 03.

just something to think about.

also, who trusts nvmax? remember, they claimed NV30 would have a 256bit bus.

LOL according to that roadmap the nv30 is the first Enthusiast level GFX card from them. I wonder how much it will cost when thinking about the price of the "Performance" level GF4TĚ when it came out.

Agreed there.... There's no way you'll be able to buy a NV35 before January 2004. There will probably be a couple months behind and then add 3 months post-tapeout and all of a sudden you go from July 2003 to January 2004.

The should-I-buy or should-I-wait stuff is getting tiresome. Just buy what you want and sell the old card on eBay or give it to one of your relatives.

Maybe it does but so does the R350, you have to be on top of the game, and Nvidia is coming a little short this round of events.
