View Full Version : R520 & next nvXX; How do you think they will perform in 3DMark05?

My idea is that if they will still be neck to neck in performance they will score around 14K

X800XT-pe score about 5800 (and 6800U should be able score enarly the same wit the latest driver if the graph i remeber was not about the EE version ehe)

so if u think about some optimisation in the hardware + a double fillrate they both should perform about 14K.

No?

Doubt it. My guess is that the parts will be 20 or 24 pipes, have two fully usable shader units per pipe, 8 vertex units, and will have clocks in the 550-675 range. 75 to 100% faster than the current chips. 3DMark05 scores in the 12,000 range. I don't think we will be seeing the type of performance boost going from this generation to the next as we did from the previous to this one.

If you want a total guess then here it is

8394 3dmark05's

woot.

I think they will score MAX 10000 3dmarks not more...

I strongly doubt they'll be 'neck and neck'. Considering the next gen for nVidia will probably be an NV4x derivative, it's likely to still perform significantly worse in that benchmark than the ATi offering.

~9000 range my guess. I don't realy think they will hit 500Mhz mark with 24pipe or so , probably ~400. Is it even confirmed that they will add extra quad ? maybe just tweak shrink core and upp MHz :( , ATI card should be a bit more interesting with new AA rumors flying arround.

I think they will score about the same as an mid-high end SLI system now.

I say 8000 to 9000 for a single R520 perhaps.

I take back the part about 12,000 being a normal score. The 10,000 range seems a bit more reasonable.

My guess is that nvidia will want the NV50 to be modestly faster than a 6800U SLI setup... I'd guess maybe 10,000 - 11,000 in 3Dmark05.

i continue to say 13-14k

come on Nvidia make me win !!! :D

Shouldn't you be more concerned with real world performance?

I think that is obvious, whens somebody talk about 3dmark05, that they refere to it just because is the more famous of the benchmark just to provide the easyest wayto compare graphics card.

Compare just Doom3 or HL2 will be worse because one is an Nv title and the other is an Ati one.

The question in the title of the treath is like say:

How many tmes will the nv50 r520 be better than nv40 and r420? eheh

I thought the SLi setups got like 28k in 3Dmark05? Or was that 03?

I'd say 7500+ for the NV47 rumored specs
& 8500+ for the R520 .

I honestly doubt they will increase the number of pipes on the cards. They just made a huge jump from 8 to 16 and 4 to 16. I think we'll see for awhile that they will evolve more like the Geforce3 to GeforceFX and Ati 8500 to 9800. Smaller dies, higher clocks, more features and SLI for both (a form of SLI)

I think that's 3DMark03, but I believe the score is closer to 20,000.. I believe I saw world record 3DMark05 scores (last I heard) in the 10,000 range:

10,118 3DMark05 (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/mainboards/display/20041027142512.html)

heh...that's why I asked. I wasn't sure if it was 05 or 03.

And no one has answered me in the thraed for 05: when you test, are you supposed to do it at 1024x768 no AA/no AF or what?
