i want to be able to comfortably game @1280x1024 with all settings high and with some aniso applied. aa isn't important to me. can anyone that owns the agp 6600gt post what sort of performance they're getting at that res and settings with games like farcry, warhammer 40k, and other graphically demanding games.

reason i ask is i'm reading so much back and forth when it comes to 6600gt performance.

none, i've cancelled two 6600gt orders because of all these 6600gt horror stories i'm hearing. i really don't want the hassle of artifacting or random dips to 10fps.

If you look at my thead above I think I might have the fix problem.

edit: by the way I can get 90fps on a regular basis in the CS: Source test.

I can get 141 FPS on my FX 5900.

To play games like FarCry, HL2, Doom 3, Unreal 3 engine etc. at 1280x1024 you may have to get a 6800 series GPU. Keep in mind the 6600GT has slightly better performance than a 9800 pro (if you need a comparison). Just my opinion.

2nded. I have an ultra, with AA and AF on, the big name titles do crawl sometimes. However that's with AA and AF. with AF only, I think a 6600 should be able to handle your prefered settings however if u can spend a lil more get a GT! :D
